Yeah thatd be great, New probably outta my range, but second hand, no older than 1999 or so. In all honesty, I would like to keep it under 10 thou if possible! I could go over, but there are LOTS of good bikes out there for less, so wanna keep it down a tad if I can restrain myself!!!
not sure,I know that trading doesnt give you anywhere near as much, so might sell it privately, and do a cash deposit. Havent fully decided yet.
As for value, just loking around tonight on the net, I have seen bikes identical to mine, and reasonably close in K's on the clock from 6-8 thousand, being sold by dealers, and I saw one that was 2 years older, for 6 thousand at Honda Otago (right before they went bust, a couple weeks ago). Having said that, there is a guy in timaru ot temuka tryna sell his on tardme, but he isnt getting offered more than about 2800. (he paid 5500 for it just a couple months ago) I think. So dont really know what Id get for it. Its in very good condition, never dropped, well serviced etc etc. The person I bought mine off bought it in november last year for 5500, (I got it in February this year). so thats really the question I guess!!!! what do ya reckon?
update!!
Well, took a TL for a ride today, great bike, felt ood, loads of tourque, but nonetheless, I have removed it from my list. So I feel at this point I am narrowed down to an R6, and a fireblade (900), probably 75/25 in favour of the R6, but i still need to get ass-on-seat time on a decent ride yet
Have you thought about a VStrom.....bloody great fun![]()
Fuck with Yoda, Die you will!!
Hi TT20. Now I KNOW you said no gsxrs, unless it was a bargain....Well, if you do pop up to Oamaru I can recommend Young Motors the Suzuki dealer. I've found them very helpful, knowledgable and honest to deal with. They are selling a brand new 2008 gsxr600 for $13995 + ORC at the moment.
Looks fantastic to me, but I am a fan. It may be worth a few minutes of your time just to have a look.
Good luck with your shopping!
yeah, thanks, even though I dont really want a GSXR, I still fully intend to take one for a ride anyway. Fact is, everytime I take a bike for a ride, my preferences change accordingly. I may yet end up wanting a bike I havent seriously considered at all. Basically Im just waiting till I turn up to tke a bike for a ride, and it all clicks, and I know its the one I want ...
Fuck sakes, I sound like a woman looking for a man, christ!![]()
what about an earlier R1 98-04ish if you're looking at R6's or CBR's.
lots of them out there and some bloody good prices too.
I know this isn't close to you but as an example its good.
this is a work mates old one he got $8400 as a trade so should be room to move on the price..

Harley Davidson: The most efficient way to convert gasoline into noise without the side effects of horsepower.
'Fast' Harleys are only fast compared to stock Harleys.
05 onwards CBR600. It's what you have, only better by so much it's unimaginable. Almost as good as a GSXR600. Almost is a nice way of saying not quite good enough, in the same way that the grand canyon is quite a ditch.
But you'll love it. In the same way you like an ugly chick that gives really good head.
Don't buy a TLR / TLs - great bikes, but you need to be a very competent rider to live with the rotary shock on the rear. It's shocking.
Also, consider 04-06 ZX6R. Almost as good as a GSXR600. In this context, think of almost as missing out at the checkout, when the operator closes just as you get to the front of the line. That's the disappointment of almost having a GSXR600...
Its diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; its life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.
