Michelin Pilot Activs?

Hi guys,
Just wanted to know if any of you have had any experience with these tyres and could tell me what they're like in everday use, both for commuting and longer or harder rides.

I've had a look at this poll posted by another user who seems quites happy with the Pilot Activs.

Any helpful advice would be appreciated. I'm running Pirelli Sport Demons on my Suzuki Across at the moment, but they're a bit soft for my use I think as I only got a shade over 6000km from them so far and they're pretty damn warn now and I'm hoping to get some new tyres before it gets too wet & rainy.

I can get a set of Pilot Activs for about $400. A new set of Sport Demons for about $360 and BT45s for $480. To me the Activs sound a like a good tyre, I know I love the feel and responce with the Sport Demons and I've heard nothing but good things about the BT45.

As such, any advice at all would be much appreciated, please share you're thoughts/wisdom.

i ran a set of pilot activs on my RG 400 until it ate them(it does that at around 5000k a front and 6000k a rear)

i used them for trackdays,quick road riding(i use the RG primarily for pleasure)and the occasional trip to work.I found them to be excellent,more grip than a road rider would normally need,slide predictably on the track,and most importantly IMHO,they keep their shape well and that keeps the handling sharp and predictable.

I also tried a set of the Pirelli sport demons before,i would have to say the Michelins are a far better tyre in every department.

im currently trying a set of metzeler ME 33/ME Z2(radial) combo.so far so good,but they are a lot more expensive than the michys.

Fair enough, that sounds good then. I don't see the point in paying more than about $400 for tyres on a 250cc, I can wait until a bigger bike for that. I'd like to keep them cheapish but good quality, after its the rubber that holds ya on the road.

Get the Activs I reckon....on my 650 bros they lasted ages (well over 10000ks) & were grippy as.....Had Bt 45,s on it when I bought it & I didnt like 'em as much.
Gammas on to it...I had the exact same results.

I had some on a GSX750F and they were great, nice and predictable and wore really well. Good tire for a resonable price.

whats wrong with the sport demons, i run them on my 250 and have got more than 15000 kms out of them so far, im stoked with it

Nothing is wrong with them per se, its just that I found I didn't get great milage from them, possibly to do with the type of riding I have been doing. 15000k is greal milage. I'm going to try these Pilot Activs, to see what they are like. No harm in trying new tyres anyway in my opinion =).

I think I am definately going to have to keep a better eye on my tyre pressures now and get my own pressure gauge as I don't trust all the ones at the petrol stations to be too accurate =\.

Well got some Pilot Activs fitted now. They seem fine so far - though obviously they're not worn in and so I haven't been giving them a hard time yet. Will let ya know what I think later though once they are.

I would be interested to know which bike shop you got them from. It sounds like a good deal.

Even once they are worn in, they will still feel totally different, so then there is the time required for you to get used to them.

Quite likely their capability will exceed your experience by at least one order of magnitude, so you should be able to just trust them and ride. Any tyre with "Michelin Pilot" in the name should, and will be, an brilliant road tyre.

I ended up paying $380 for the tyres and $100 to get the wheels balanced, tyres mounted etc. So $480 total and I got a free clean and polish for the bike too =) and some missing fairing bolts replaced. I got them from Wellington Motorcycles.

Yeah, there definately will be a change in feel from the Sport Demons that I'll have to get used to. Good point.
