    I've never dissed Danny Carey.

You'd already mentioned him - why bring him up again in my list? Eh? Eh? What is this then? No expects the Spanish Inquisition.

"Animal" seems to be missing from the line up.

Ronnie Verrell was a bloody good drummer, his career covering Big Band, small Jazz combos, and then faithfully replicating different musical and personal styles for the huge range of stuff the Muppets covered musically. IMO he handed Buddy Rich his arse musically on the episode where they had a drum battle.

Ringo certainly did show the way - a huge number of firsts, and also not as technically inept as a lot of snobs like to make out.

Saw Phil Collins when he came here on the "But Seriously" tour. Brilliant concert. He is a great drummer. "The Westside" is one of my favourites.
    Marty

Phil did his best work with Brand X. Stunning stuff.

All the above mentioned are bloody good and some of the things they do are incredible.

But we can't forget the fathers of drumming, Gene krupa for one!

P.s. my favorite after good old john has to be an even tie between virgil and travis (especially his later stuff)
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...

There's a lot of drummers mentioned in the first post that I wouldn't rate highly at all - guess that's why there's so many, huh?
Those I do rate highly are:
    Iain Paice
    (the late) John Bonham
    (the late) Cozy Powell
    Carmine Appice
ACC - It's where the Enron accountants all went.

    Tony Williams
    Billy Cobham
    Alphonse Mouzon
    Jack De Johnette
    Dave Tough
    Joe Morello
    Al Foster
    Art Blakey
    Elvin Jones
    Jimmy Cobb
    Shelley Mann
