    Wtd: Towbar carrier plans.

I have seen on Trademe this Towbar mounted motorbike carrier.

I would like to get one made up for my KR150.

Has anyone used one/seen one/ have plans on good ways to make one?

This one in pic seems to have a bar that comes over the seat to support the bike.

Trials riders have used them for years,go to a trials meeting and you'll see a few to get ideas from.Check out this thread on Thumper Talk about trailer hitches, follow the links.http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...2&parentpage=5

I'm thinking about making one for my Pajero to take my trials bike and trail bike,I like the look of that tilting alloy one....there was one on TradeMe a few months ago, went for $500,a bit steep for me at the time.Have a good look at your towbar and if it's a good one it will have max tongue weight stamped on it.My Pajero has 100kg tongue weight, the TLR200 weighs less than that, the DT230 20 or 30kg more,so it should take it.Bear in mind those Yank tanks with a Class III hitch take 5000lbs,they are a million times stronger than anything we make here.

    That towbar carrier......

You know it would cost you a lot less cash and time if you just brought the one off trademe. 200 bucks sounds like a pretty good deal...... I might be a little bit bias though being the one who is selling it. But honestly by the time you pay for steel, wiring looms, paint etc you would'nt really be saving any money.

There is one laying behind my garage that used to carry my speedway bike. Would need a bit of modification for anything else as speedway bikes use a 2.75 front tyre. They are about the same length as a smallish 150 though. If anyone wants it, they can have it. Im in Upper hutt
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

OK, anyone from Wellington going to Wanganui races who could take this up?
Obviously going to need a car or van. It bolts in place of the towball, doesn't project out beyond the side of a reasonable size car (I used it on an XE Falcon) and doesn't require lights as it doesn't obscure the car ones.
RR can you get it from Wanganui to NP?
Alternatively I'll measure and weigh it and see what it would cost to freight to NP.

K14 has offered to bring this towbar carrier from Wanagnui to NP for me.
So is there anyone that can pick it up from Pete (Upper hutt) and pass on to K14 (RS125 #14 in F3) in the pits on Boxing day?
    Cheers.

How big is this thing, we are going through in the cage, but car is not too large, will it fit in boot or back seat? Anyway it could be dropped off in Newlands?
