Wellington Newbie Ride 29 Jan 06

This is a chance for newer riders in the area to get togeather and head out on an organised ride.
THIS IS NOT A RACE...This is most important as we don't want anybody crashing cause it will be a fun day out.
Go at your own pace, there will be people who will wait for you.
Make sure your bike is road legal ie: warrant, rego, chain oiled and adjusted, tyres the correct pressure......

The plan is to gather at various meeting points with the main gathering at Caltex Rimutaka Upper Hutt for the trip over the Rimutakas to Featherston and on to Martinborough.
Townies: Meet at the caltex truck stop Hutt road Kaiwharawhara 9:45am for 10:00am depature.
Hutt riders: Car park at the bottom of Maungaraki Hill Road 10:20am for 10:35am departure.
All others meet at Caltex Rimutaka 11:00am for 11:20am departure.

LETS MAKE THIS A GREAT DAY

Also looking for experienced riders to help out with back markers and to share riding tips and any questions the newbies might ask.
PM me if you can help.

I encourage anyone whos only gone over the takas a couple of times (even) to come along on this ride. Make sure you ask questions of the senior...whoops sorry Jim2...I mean 'more experienced' riders.
    Ill be there.

I won't be able to make this one as I am working AND on call.

Darkman - don't overthink it. Too many people over analyse riding. I've been guilty of that myself. Just go out, have fun.

I reckon you gotta workout what you have control over and ride within those limits. Rationalise the 'problem'...but dont overthink it like MB said.

Nobody does more analysis than GP riders. Then again, they do need to know their limits! Casual riders still need to do some analysis, if they want to improve their riding skill.

Bruce, I can offer tips on correct attachment of numberplate, high-speed lanesplitting, tax evasion and picking the best route home/hiding place. Do you think the newbies will be able to take that all in on one day?
