gpr70 sp?

I am currently running Bridgestone BT96 upfront and BT92 on the rear. Despite this combination providing very good grip and feedback I have heard that the Dunlop GPR70s are actually the best tyres I can get for my ZXR.

I have been told that the GPR70SP are even better than the 'standard' GPR70. I'm just interested in what the actual difference is between the SP and non-SP tyres; they both look identical but I was told that the SP ones provide even better grip. What are the differences?

Would appreciate any info with regards to these tyres.

Not all GPR70SP are made equal either....
I wouldnt fuss. I had 2 sets of Pirelli's on my RGV, the supercorsas are great for dry hooning, go for those.

when i got my 70's wasn't told about sp or nething...but upon close inspection of my tyre the say gpr70-sp

so not sure if there is a difference...dont see much point in having a race spec tyre then having a better version. :eyepoke:

from my rides if u want better dry grip then the 70's get slicks...

there has been a back order on rear tyres you can get the fronts atm but rears are about 3 weeks away according to the guy i got mine from.

i got last rear in QLD!!

The SPs are the race version of the standard gpr70, slightly softer I assume, not sure on the construction, but I imagine that they are the same internally.

I had some gpr70sp's on my zxr400 and felt that they were a pretty good tyre, but I personally wouldnt go past the supercorsa. Great dry grip, nice even tip-in and they wear pretty well too. Wet grip is very good if they are warm.

Tyre choice is more to do with what feels best to you, everyone has their own favourite and different tyres perform in different manners - slowly sliding or sticking like shit then snapping loose, steady tip in or a more progressive feel - Just try some and see what manufacturers fit with your riding style.

If you need more grip for a ZXR250 than a GPR70 can throw at you, you're my hero, these tyres are the bizzo and really are above what the bike can throw at it, if you crash with GPR's on your're a muppet and for the record i am a muppet.

I had them on the RGV and they were amazing, I've got them on my new bike (+40kg) and they seem flighty, don't know how much of that is down to suspension, but this is the same difference I have heard between dunlops and pirelli's throughout the range, dunlops are stickier but feel 'out of control' pirellis are predictable but with less grip.

Tyre choice is limited for the ZXR250's. I've got a set of GPR70's on the ZXR250A that fraggle and I use as a track bike.

I think that the GPR70's are great in the dry, but in the wet you need to be a bit careful.

You'll run out of ground clearance before you ever run out of grip with these tyres in the dry on a good surface on the ZXR. I strongly recomend these tyres.
