i wouldda thought Phil would know what hes doin? he seems onto it??
I Just bought a rg150 barrel, guess what- its got a cast iron sleeve. Wonder if they are all like that?
Im havin second thoughts now as well!!
lol..
acctually after thinking about it,
your both bloody good guys!!
Oh and why did i think that the RG was coated??
A bad assumption i guess!! and also i believe i was looking at one sitting in the bike shop that had flaking nikasil.....
hmm mysterys..
ask ivan he has a bore sitting in his shed!
I havent checked it buried away in shed
That would bewhy but Im just saying you cant hone nicasel its just something you dont do you pull top end down sticknew piston in and thats it no honing you dont want to damage the coating cause once thats F#$%D the barrels had it you can get it replated but the next job isnever as good so Alarumba you can bore it .05 oversize

Yeah well if the bores aren't coated then its only gonna cost him about $50 to get it bored out!!
You struck lucky Alarumba!!
Oh and sorry about the confusion guys.... My bad .![]()
Yeah exactly. I think a few people on here should make sure they get their facts straight before leading on other people into making the incorrect decision.
So now alarumba. Take the new piston and the barrel to a place and they will rebore and hone it and you should be all up and running again.
No K14 it was not an assuption.
When i was in the shop i was told it was a RG150 bore that he was honing and he said it was a nikasil bore.
because he showed me where the the nikasil was starting to flake off inbetween the exhaust ports.
I'll got talk to him....
So it was more that i may have been told the wrong information.
No you did not....
But if i can't trust what a trained mechanic says who can i trust??
