    A.

It would be interesting to see a man join Contours gym tho ...the dumbells only go up to a maximum of about 15 kilos apparently. So I have been told.

re the barber shop saga - I think its a double standard.

A mens only place, where woman dare to tread....try Mustangs

I dont agree, but I do like your sentiment.

Part of being a gentleman is making a woman feel like a lady. Feminists dont want to be ladies. They dont want a man to open the door, pull out their chair, or protect them from "evil" - percieved or real. This is just one aspect of being a gentleman I know, but it is an important part, and one which an increasing number of hairy armpitted man haters dont want.

    Their loss, I say.

I'm happy to have feminists as friends, although traditionally we have never seen eye to eye enough to become close friends. I would never see fit to dating a feminist. I much prefer a lady to a woman.

So who's going to join contours?
I do find it funny that so many women complain that there's no good available men, yet so many men look to other ethnic groups for wives.
    Could there be a link?
Could it be that many NZ men are tired of hard eyed harpies who's first question is "what do you do"? As in, "how much do you earn?"
I've heard guys complain about this time and again.
And to answer the inevitable question, my wife is a NZ'er, earns more than me and while very succesful in her field, is anything but a harpie.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

Do I talk about woman in my quote? I think I refer to "blacks" and other minorities, playing on the fact Stone is a SA ....

    .
Instead these ethnic groups you are talking about may be more subtle at finding out the answer to that question than these up front Kiwi gals?? I mean I gather these groups are after financial security after all, and looking to be treated better by kiwi men than their own ethnicity - this would motivate someone to be clever

If I was dating I wouldn't be interested in how much my potential suiter
earns- pathetic. But I would be interested in "what they do" only out of
    pure interest.

Why not? A potential partner who earns more would be able to provide a safer home and better education for your potential children. Hey, it's in our biology to pick for survival traits, and lots of money is a modern survival trait.

If that barber didn't want her in his shop he could have simply done a shit job... she would have come back to complain... he'd tell her to go somewhere else and pay for her haricut somewhere else... (using the money he was paid for the first one).

$0.00 sum game, and she's outta there!

Yeah there are still a lot of double standards... and they're being chpped away one by one. Turn the double standard on it's head... if she can do it so can we all.. as you rightly pointed out. Ring contours and confirm WHY they don't allow male members (pun not intended... albeit a goody!)

Male assault Female vs Common Assualt per the discussions of a while ago. No such statute of Female Assult Male

Men's only Gym would be cool.

What about the Pakeha All Blacks?

What bastions of gender, race or religous segragetion remain? What about laws?

But... and it's a big butt... do we really want to get rid of them?

Yeah good point - I take it back.

How about a gym only for BMI between 18 and 25? Or body fat less than 15% and weight between 50 and 90 kgs?

    Age from 18 to 25?

Do tell: where are these increasing numbers of 'hairy armpitted man haters' of which you speak? The eighties are long past, and 'feminism' has virtually become a caricature and an insult. I sometimes wonder about the paranoid delusions often held by people who think the occasional vociferous nutter speaks for all women who may or may not espouse 'feminism' - whatever it means to them...

HA! You don't think those girls (if by this you are alluding to mail order bride types) are marrying for economic reasons half the time? Maybe they *are* better at giving ageing middle aged guys what they want.
As for the hard faced 'how much do you earn' crap- I don't see that as being a 'feminist' trait at all. Surely that's more of a 'gold digger' thing? I thought the whole point was that a woman should be able to support herself, not leech off some poor guy. Unfortunately, I think this is a dynamic that won't go away as long as guys prefer fake boobs and sweet lies, and as long as the media perpetuates it by promoting this as a valid 'career option'.

*sigh* Aaaaanyway. Go ahead and take everything I just said the wrong way, because I just know you will. Need I add that I think the 'Barber Shop Woman' needs to get a life and look for something that actually matters to get het up about? Probably, so I just did.

    Arrow Meh.

With most things there is a right way and a wrong way. However with women its just their way.

    End of lesson.
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

There was a similar instance in Wellington when I worked on a local paper there - a hairdresser offered $10 haircuts for men but women's ones were $16. Someone complained and she tried explaining it took very little time to do a man's cut but a woman's cut required more faffing around and blow waving, etc but the stupid HRC wouldn't budge.

I went to Contours once but found there was no incentive to exercise! It was full of huge fat housewives who could hardly lumber from one machine to the other. I only lasted a month or so before going back to a unisex gym where I could perve at the men and be inspired to work harder because it was full of hunky men to impress!

I don't have a problem with equal rights and so on, but I don't like preferential treatment for certain groups, whether they are male, female, or of a particular race, etc. Respect is something you have to earn - it's similar to giving up your seat on a train or bus - if I were male I wouldn't automatically give it up for a female, but as a female I would offer it to an older person irregardless of their gender.

Why don't we celebrate the differences rather than moan that we are being discriminated against because someone won't give us an army haircut? Why doesn't she buy a razor and do it herself?
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
