27th August Off-road ride

Morning all,

Weather looking awsome from here. Bout 20 mins of leaving so will see you all there. Guessing I'll be first again but who cares it is a awsome day to be outside given that most of the week is inside. Printed out about 7 maps of places to visit in Summer.

Damn I wish I was in dorkland this last week. There was a 2004 KTM LC4 640 with 8000 km that sold on trademe for $6900. Have been watching all week and was expecting it to jump to around $8k. Damn damn damn.

Got the dosh for the good stuff outa the back of the TA

So...how did the ride go? Was gutted I couldnt be there, the weather out there looked awesome!

It was terrible you would of hated every minute of it.
You would of been so glad that you couldn't make it.

Well no one has probably said anything as we are all stuffed and are in bed.
And that's where we are going now.

OK just the high lights.
10 bikes, bike in a hole, bike in a ditch, flat tire, group got split and found each other again, bikes and riders had wee lie downs, mud, soft single, water, got cold, got hot, dent in a tank and every one is stuffed and has got dirty.
And the GS and rider did well and both know that they went off road today.

Seem i have 2hrs 15minutes of video from this one to chop up, not the smallest of jobs so a silver lining to my short working week. And FQ, the answer is yes, i did kinda get you trying to grow little DR's by planting your one.

1-Riding along the Eyre River on the way back from Oxford, stopped at a graded ford.
2-Further along the Eyre river.
3-Rest and pose at the waterwheel again.
4-SDU can reach the ground, kiss that bike good bye Mr S.

Glad you got the bike planting TA - I was too busy watching the hole thinking this is going to be fun, to see how not to do it. Should be most entertaining! Maybe FQ should change his handle to crash, THREE time yesterday that I know of! Maybe its all cause you like to play around the most aye FQ.

Didnt even take the camera out of the bag cause knew that there are so many other budding photographers in the bunch.

Like I said - watched some of the south side vid at work this morning (I dont work for the goverment - a consultancy that does work for them!) and it is good stuff. Will have to watch more at lunchtime. Thanks for all the efforts TA. I recon you might be earning yourself a beer or two from us all with the stuff you deal out!

Had a great time - felt much better after all the dust had been removed though.

Oh and well done Mr Sensible. Taking the GS for its first off road trip would have been a steep learning curve! Done worry about the incident at the cafe - I bring a seperate seat for you next time

It was great to be able to unexpectably get given the day off work so I was able to get out with all you good people for another good ride.

That GS was looking real purdy & shiney on arrival but Mr S soon sorted that out. Hats off to him for going to places where a lot off GS's would never go. I had to put up some before & after pics. The after photo doesn't do justice to the amount off dirt on that bike.
In fact all you guys who take big beasties on our rides are bloody awesome.
The other pic is off TA sharing from out off his topbox. Love the DVD it was good & I look forward to yesterdays ride one too. Thankfully you weren't behind me for my wee lie down for a change. I thought FQ did the DR dropsies proud this time.
For those off us who couldn't find a tin shed to save ourselves- it was a good little adventure getting to the intake & oxford all the same. Oh & Thanks for the entertainment FQ, pity I didn't have the camera for your little swim in the ditch

You're very welcome. Lemans was providing puncture repair classes for half the group so I provided the clown act for the rest. I did seem to do more than my share though, I hope you others take a turn next time instead of me doing all the work

I dont really want to get pinged for riding an un-rego'd bike on the road!
I still want to do some rides like this though, its just getting the RMX rego'd would be an arse, and I cant afford a new bike at the moment.

Yes Percy they are all regoed (etc) and are riden on the road a lot as well.
It's good as we can go anywhere to ride with out having to returning back to the cars etc.

We do, do rides that would be OK for your bike being non-regoed, as sometimes not all the bike's are road worthy.
We just have to plan around that fact, no problem.

Green meenie sounds interested in attacking Worseys Rd. and i'd like to take the camera there too - prefer a crf run for that. It gets a lot of dedicated dirtbikes up there, walkers, mountain bikers and 4x4s to watch out for and be nice to too.
