I'll sell you some ARVN rifles. Never been fired and only dropped once

    Sniper, read my signature.

I believe bend-it was initially only refering to the fact that 36% of accident cause by asians by itself doesn't mean anything, it was only substantiated on your later post where you reveled that 42.342% of cars are hired out by asians. (which by the was indicates that there is only slightly higher risk with asians hiring cars) I wonder what the similar statistic would be of people from none asian countries that drive on the right hand side having accidents.... now THAT would FULLY substantiate your argument. (so that we can have comparison... what side of the road do they drive on in south africa???)
I have deep pockets. It's just that it's a deep empty pocket...........

And people with beards. Apparently they smell of garlic as well.

And don't get me started on bearded, garlic munching, fat Asian bastards.

I am working with a few Koreans at the moment. What a bunch of funny buggers! They have a great sense of humour and would put a few kiwis to shame.

I get your drift, but the drift most Kiwi's have with using the term "Asian" IS the fact that it covers so many different countries! Surely you don't expect us to know which country each driver is from, do you? It won't happen. I have on occasion had discussions with friends while driving along and witnessing bad driving and the odd accident, in the case where it's been an Asian driver one of us has said "looked like Japanese" and then the other says "no, that was Chinese?", then we both agree to disagree and just say "it was an Asian either way!". Keeping this in mind Bend-it, you are going to have to accept the terminology Kiwis use, because that's all it is, terminology. Imo the word Asian is not derogatory in most minds and there is no offence intended towards you by using it.

Honestly, in my experience of 20 years driving in NZ, Asians, Indians, and the elderly are the worst drivers I have personally witnessed on the roads. Many of my family, friends, and asscociates over the years that I have discussed this with have had similar experiences and would agree that the stereotype 'Asians are bad drivers' is deserved, unfortunately.

Now *racism* is the other side to the coin that others can discuss if they wish, but for me when I make a statement using the word Asian it simply means "from Asia somewhere", there's no intended racism or underlying prejudices, even on the road. But I don't speak for everyone here...

What I'd like to know is how many hires there were Sniper? Are we talking about a large number in the 1000's or low 100's?

Then just "the idiot driver" would suffice. Have you ever, on seeing bad European driving, see the urge to label them? German driver or french driver? Or swiss driver? Ahhh, it was European either way...

    I suspect not... why not?

See, more stereotyping... If you drove on the streets on Singapore, Korea and Taiwan, you woud find it much different to India, Thailand, Indonesia and others. See what the stereotype does? It puts pre-conceived notions in people's minds when they see someone associated (often unfairly) with the target group of people.

NZ has the privilege of having incredibly low population density, and so drivers here drive differently from people from countries that do not. Not that either is wrong, just suited for different conditions. Instead of griping about "bad driving", maybe the "different driving" should be acknowledged, and more done in terms of driver training (at the cost to the immigrant) before allowing license conversion.

I'll give credit where credits due. They could teach our lot a thing or two in the manners department. But here's the thing, put an asian behind a spheical object, be steering wheel or a one dollar coin and their personality changes. The steering wheel seems to effect their english as they suddenly do not understand. The dollar coin highlights their mathmatical skills with the result that their english suddenly improves.

Could tell a few stories from On the Busses. In the main, if they can shaft you they will.

Singaporians were with out doubt the best to deal with. Japanese the worst. Koreans are the most westernised.
