    I'm hungry - what's for lunch - Monday 04/09/06

It's been a few weeks since I last sinned. What's for lunch on Monday (or Tuesday, weds ... you get the idea) Good chance to catch up, with those who cold kiwi'd it, or those who we haven't seen for awhile, or those who...?
Here's the nudge - get on board throw your ideas in here and we'll eat.
I choose Black Harp, Tuesday @ 12... Place your bids, mark your calenders...

Not to get all Jim2 about is but I think you'll find they accentuate the a in the maori language. It could be an a with a little ' on top I guess.

Yep you're right about the accentuation, but I promise you it is spelt Hangi. The Maori alphabet usually say 'a' like 'aa'

Ah, shush! Your making me hungry for bad bad carbohydrates....
One of the foster homes I lived in years ago was right next door to the local Marae and used to lay a hangi down at least once a month, we'd have fried bread and steamed pudding too.

Had some pommie friends who got invited to a hangi...
They thought that everyone was going to watch a native being swung on a rope for a misdemeanour, and weren't too keen on the whole idea!!

Imagine trying to explain that misconception away,
no no, we don't hang anyone, we dig a big hole, light a bloody big fire, to heat up these big arse river rocks, then some wet sacking....
