Could be great. If they don't make all the heroes Americans. Like they did with U571.

Can we get a great escape remake while we're at it?

The Australian version will be called 'The Dam's run dry again, Buster'.

Now look here old chap. That sort of talk could get the Squadron in trouble. Loose lips shouldn't wear hotpants - all that sort of thing.
Now carry on and be a good chap - mind how you go.

I'm guessing a Lancaster is a type of airplane?

Nah it's a town in northern England....like Halifax.....but with a different tail profile....

Thing about re-makes is that half the time you know how they're going to end.

I think you have it nailed there. There are 2 flying. The BBMF has one and the Canadian Warplane Heritage museum has the other (although possibly not fully restored yet).
PJ has done quite a lot for vintage flying. Restoring aircraft for the King Kong movie footage and also involved in the new aviation museum in (Blenheim???) South Island anyway...

Yes, bloody yanks, rock up to the war late, even then they were forced into it, then claim they won it all by themselves ... oh, there may have been some english, russians, canadians, kiwi's, aussies etc, etc, along too as extras but they barely get a mention. Then they make movies like U571 claiming credit for what was a british event, and the recent remake of Pearl Harbour where the yanks also won the battle of Britain - christ they had no oficial involvement in that at all - the only yanks there had been US civilians prior to volunteering for the RAF with no support from their government. It's the same with a lot of the doco's on the history channel, if a yank made it then there's a fair bit of bullshit in it - the british made ones are more accurate.

Right I'll just hop off the soapbox now and pop my flak jacket on.

I would think Peter Jackson would make Dambusters accurately, he seems to like doing things accurately, is an aviation enthusiast himself, and seems capable of doing things his way. As for it being a remake - he made Lord of the Rings because it was a story he had always wanted to do, and King Kong was a movie he had liked as a child an wanted to remake sometime, and as I said he's an aviation enthusiast so I assume this is simply another movie on his "to do" list and indulges his desire to play with planes.

Anyway, cool news, I'm looking forward to it
