    << Paid your fine? >>

I was bad..yup 147kmh busted on Peak Rd, a fine for $800 recieved and more annoyingly loss of licence for a month.

Left the fine repayment until today before ringing the courts, was absolutley gob smacked that after means testing [ I earn well above average] they will let me pay back at $40 a month and at no interest, got the impression had I pushed a further reduction was possible.

I was cringing when asked my salary thinking they would laugh and tell me to piss off.

Think I'll spend the $800 set aside on leathers

that has GOT to be a brilliant source of finance .............

if you are caught doing 147 ... hum, hum

but, more to the point, will they let you 'pay off' your licence suspension in 1 hour lots [say between midnite and 1am] over the course of 2 years???

But will you have learned your lesson once you have paid the fine in full? What lesson?

At least you're repaying it SPB, they have a hard enuf time getting peeps to pay let alone pay off!

What?! I didn't get this option when I got slapped with a $320 fine on the FXR - shit I was still at school then and could've done with paying it back at $5 a month.

And due to inflation, the longer you take to pay it back - the cheaper it is!

Wouldn't it be a better idea spending the $800 on a radar detector? Then there's no way the cops could "Get Shorty"

How the hell did you plead poverty at the same time as telling them how much you annually earn? Or do they just take your word for it?

    "Hi I earn 100k a year but I'm broke"
'That won't be a problem, it'll be $20 a month' (Assuming the person paying the fine probably has a P addiction or is a cocaine user or what not whilst not asking them to explain why they are always broke because that will be non-PC.)

    Is this how it works?

Means testing included asking what outgoings I have. Two factors came into play, a partner who also earns reasonable money and embellishment.
You have lots of outgoings SuperDave

Try this one then for a fine repayment:

Set up an automatic payment at $20 for my fine, but for whatever reason I overpaid it by $60.

Go down to the Courts to get my $60 back. The two girls there couldn't decide whether they had to do 3x repayments or one for the full amount. They buggered around for 10 minutes then told me a cheque would be in the post.

Anyway a week later I recieve a cheque for $60

But it doesn't end here, a few days after that I recieved another cheque for $120.........bonus. So I banked it and they never asked for it back.

I can only assume that they did the 3x refund option and actually refunded me 3x $60. I love it when mistakes are in my favor

Can't they come back in 15 years time or something and ask for their money back with interest?
