That sounds like a plan. Easy enough for everyone else to get to?

Nope, wouldnt suit alot of people dude. Would be about the same as going out to Harringtons in Belfast travel wise for heaps of people. 15 to 20 min from the city according to the maps and a hell for those coming from hornby or any of the other southern suburbs.

Something alot more central is better.

I think Im going on a recce today....

EDIT: X marks the parklands pub. If Im wrong for those wanting to travel there, thats cool too.

What about the Lancaster pub near Jade stadium or the Bealey Speights Ale house on Bealy Ave. Both are central enough without being in the middle off town. Be parking unless the rugby is on.

Nice of you to remember us 'Ornby folk Stu.

Be good to settle on a new KB gathering place and something centralish with good parking sounds good. Problem is that most pubs that don't get crowded are in the burbs.

Thought about the Bealey ave Ale House. But parking there sucks. Drive past on a week night and it seldom looks like a free park.

Still recon the Ale House over by Bunnings is the best bet. It's not quite in town and yet still close enough that the CBD is literally 2 minutes away. There's also no shortage of parking.

Ok well since I don't know Chch and my map book won't help me squat with a pub selection I'll leave that up to you folks. Just make sure it's one that is fairly easy for all to get to.

And if it's croweded, we arn't all big bad bikers for no reason are we? lol.

Speights Ale house gets my vote. There are a couple big car parks around there. The Noel Leeming/Bond and Bond park being the biggest

I think you're confusing Moorhouse Ave and Bealey Ave. Speights Ale House is on Bealey between Madras and Barbadoes - Noel Leeming and co are on Moorhouse - Yes, good parking, but about 2.5km away from the pub.

    Damn, you are right ops:

In which case, there is a fair bit of parking on the side street next to the motel that backs onto the Alehouse.

I think they are both called Speights Ale house... the one at Bunnings is a good spot but not that cheap for food, tho it is very nice, and yeah def plenty of parking around, and moderately central to most people, it would get my vote!

How about one of the Robbies Bars.
Riccarton, Lancaster Park or Cranford St.

Man, we call Aucklanders "poncy". How long does it take us to pick a bar?

By all accounts (yes, I just reread this entire thread, god how I need to get out more) I'd say Speights Ale House next to bunnings seems to be the current favourite.

    Any major dealbreaking objections anyone?

Hmmm. How about a Saturday or Sunday afternoon KB 'information gathering' ride around all the suggested venues to establish the most appropriate? Seems the only fair way. Of course volunteers would have to be called for to sample a (small) beer at each location ... purely as a quality assessment exercise. To ensure the volunteers retain their ... umm... 'objectivity, perhaps it should be limited to about half a dozen venues?
(Or is this altogether too organised and contrary to the spirit of motorcycling?)
