$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details
You're right, but someone in front of you with a helmet on, fuel in their tank and cash in their hand offering it to you is a strange time to pull rank.
I'm personally a fan of natural justice, (or outcomes)... and if Sarge was unable to be served until he took his lid off, the only outcome would have to be to take the fuel back out of his tank.
Pain in the arse of a job... but if that's what the guy wanted then I'd be more than happy to let him arrange it. He'd need to prove to me there was just as much fuel left in the tank at the end too.
But ... it's his call.

Not entirely. That would be true if they elected not to supply fuel to motorcyclists at all, unless they removed their helmetsone thing to remember.
the mobil is private property, they can do what they choose, and you can too, by not buying anything from there and "boycotting" it if you can find the popular support, or complain to the owner.
it could work out for you.
But in this case Mr Sarge had fuelled up , and was endeavouring to pay. They made acceptance of his payment subject to a condition that had not been advised at the time of the contract.
Mr Sarge proferred payment for the goods . They refused to take it. I'd have ridden off.
Put the subject into a non biker context. How about a chick goes in and the guy says he won't serve her unless she takes her top off? Does it being private property oblige her to take it off? Same thing I reckon.

A lot of petrol stations have no-helmet signs, most people don't pay any attention to them. If there was such a sign I don't think the cops would be too lenient on someone riding away without paying.
Yea Sarge. My thoughts exactly too.
If we're allowed to wear helmets then these people should be allowed to wear burqas as well.
I'm sick of special treatments.
Any of you remember which politician was it a few months ago that wanted to ban burqas while driving? He might have helmets on his agenda too. Bastards.....

Actually some of them do.
Ok, guys, let's try another angle. The pakistani guy obviously has certain experience dealing with moslem ladies.
Perhaps he figured that Sarge wearing a helmet and the aforementioned lady not wearing a bourka are equally scary. May it be that he decided not to enforce the anti-face-cover regulation out of pure humanism?
I tried not to remove the goggles (I wear a motocross helmet) when paying for the gas. Alas, the response was, "howdy mate good to see ya again". Obviously I picked the wrong gas station.
"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule
