Gibernau's tire was totally shot with big chunks missing out of it, he did well to get the bike to the finish. Part of Pedros'a demise was tire choice by his team, they totally got it wrong and apologised to Dani after the race, the tire was described as "melted" by one observer!

Ya have to feel sorry for gibbering mess , as he accelerated out of that last croner , his grip was shot , he ran wide , Rossi took the advantage..

What happened to shinsmytwin Mechano .. Awesome start ,,but after the bike swap .. just faded

Nicky said after (about Rossi) 'he beat me on the track' meaning that's where it counts, and good on him, I reckon. A lot of people portray Nicky as a whinger, or don't like him because he's American, or for who knows what reason, but he basically just gets on with it and doesn't make excuses, just tells it like it is, if there's something wrong with him or the bike, that's what you hear.
He will indeed have a hard time staying ahead of Rossi for the championship, especially as it sounds like Honda are dicking him around some with the bike mods he's being made to test and race with. It's almost like they don't want him to win it all, but that's Honda's internal politics, and apparently always been that way. That from people like Mat Oxley and Toby Moody, who seem to get past the usual journo claptrap and write what they think, and not what Honda, Yamaha, Marlboro, Dorna etc. spew out. I reckon they'll have a hard time justifying not giving him what he needs for the final races and stop screwing around, given their golden boy Pedrosa's performance in the rain. Nicky was bloody lucky to come out as well as he did, tho', Dani had disappeared those first five laps. Funny how their finishing positions were pretty well reversed after the rain/bike change. I wouldn't want to throw it away if I had a leg in Dani's shape, that's for sure, so you have to figure that for the reason.
Interesting days, eh? There's nothing like a MotoGP race to watch, and the great pity is once the season's finished, we have to wait until April to start again. I hope the change to 800's doesn't make a mess of it all.

No, I don't think so. Maybe I meant to say 'doesn't make excuses for himself', does that make it any clearer? In other words, if it's the bike or tyres or setup, he says so, if it's him, he says so, if he gets beaten fair and square, he says so, etc.
According to Toby, his plan, when he saw the yellow, was that Rossi would slow and let Stoner overtake and he (Nicky) would just tag along right behind and sneak in front of Rossi too!. The plan went awry when Rossi didn't slow for the yellow (which apparently neither he nor Stoner saw) so that was that, and he had nothing for Rossi when he was gapped. It didn't sound like he was pissed, just a bit puzzled that the flag was there and nothing really happened as a result.
Maybe you think I'm defending Nicky too much, but someone has to around here

They're all racers, at the end of the day, and we all have our favourites and ambivalences. It's just we don't have Biaggi to kick around any more, that's the problem

Altho' we will in WSB next year, I wonder how much he'll find wrong with the Suzuki.

I recorded the race, and have watched the pass in frame by frame mode.
It's seems to me that Rossi did pass under yellows.

The corner before the pass you see a blur of orange and yellow at the Marshall post. The orange is the Marshall's vest, the yellow must be the flag.
The corner after the pass, the Marshall is clearly waving a yellow.

In Rossi's defense, he was in a group of 5 bikes, close enough to spit on each other, so had other things on his mind. But he's a professional, perhaps he should have seen the flags.

Didn't he come out of the pit on the 'wet' bike well down on is previous position also ? It can't have been easy swapping bikes with a stuffed knee and a box step up.

Yeah. I wondered about that myself. The Ducatis sounded like the ignition was cutting-out. But how was it that the Hondas, Yamahas, Suzukis, etc all sounded OK. They must have had their traction control dialed-up too.

Roberts' bike was "missing", similar to the Ducatis. He finished well-down, and he is a good wet rider (remember Donington a couple of years ago).

Poi la Honda ha comunque deciso di non ricorrere ai giudici.

Rossi's saying that right from the warm-up lap there was a marshall waving a yellow flag for no reason. He told the person responsible for safety, Uncini, and goes on to say they were difficult conditions to see in.
Honda decided not to resort to race officials after all.
