The outright land speed record on a two-wheel vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine was broken on Tuesday 5 September by seven times AMA dirt-track Champion Chris Carr on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
The machine used for this attempt, the “Lucky 7”, is a streamliner with a specially-built 3000cc V4 turbo-charged engine.
Carr recorded a 1km flying start speed of 351.062 mph (564.979 km/h) and a 1-mile speed of 350.884 mph (564.693 km/h)
