The War Illustrated

This was a magazine published over the period of both World Wars. I have the complete set from the second world war bound into 10 hard cover books. Very interesting reading, although it seems like alot of it is propaganda there is some awesome pic's and illustrations.

Anyway I'll get to the point, I was wondering if they are a collectors item? Does anyone here know?

No idea sorry, but I'm currently reading an illustrated book on the D-Day invasion. The pictures make all the difference, it's incredible to see what the world went through during that period of time. That collection of yours must be a fascinating read, and I'm sure there must be a market for it out there somewhere if you are looking to sell it. You may have to look outside NZ's shores to find it however.

Anything is a "collector's item". People collect Bic flick pens, FFS.

I suspect your collection of magazines has some value, given that it is a complete set. The value will be determined by how many other complete sets there are in existence, the condition of the material and, most importantly, how many people there are out there who are willing to pay for it.

Now if you want a collection of something with real value, try a complete set of original Apollo mission patches.

Put 'em on Trade Me, put a reserve you'd be happy to see them go for and see what happens. I'm amazed at what sells on there - I sold two items last week (both kitchen goods) for WAY more than what I paid for them originally! By the same token, goods that are in excellent condition but no longer wanted get no bids. If you've got any Steve Irwin memorabilia, you've probably missed your window of opportunity now...

TradeMe, while being a great KIWI site , is usually limited to the Kiwi market.. my advice is to list either on the UK or US Ebay sites.. instead of 2 million users, you would have 4 or 5 times that .. put a reserve on them that is higher than you think they should be and if you have interest, you can either re-list or offer them at a set price..

good luck... i'd love to see them.. i had a relative that was a USMC Combat Photographer in the Pacific in WW2... might be a couple of his shots in there

thanks for the advice everyone, if i sold them I'd probably regret it, just wanted to know if there are a collectors item or not.
