Any other Yamaha FZ6 riders out there?

Hi all , recently got my mits on the FZ6 that I had been lusting after for the past two years since they were released, but now realise that I seem to be the only person on the road using one of these machines!

WHY? Its a gorgeous machine, has the R6 engine in a slightly detuned form but still with a massive screaming redline, and is very polite and willing to do whatever you want it to! I just dont understand...

There doesnt seem to be a hell of a lot around the forum on the FZ6.

I guess I shouldnt complain at people not being interested, it meant I got mine from a dealer for a fantastic price of $8500, 2yrs old, 5000kms on the clock, and a number of factory accessories!

Seeing as I'm pretty new to the KiwiBiker community, and have had an 18 month hiatus from motorcycling, I would love the help of others out there in establishing how many fellow FZ6 riders are out there... The time away from the bike scene has left me without my old bike ride partners.. (plus I upgraded from the learner classes )

It's been a while since you posted, but what the heck.
I've had my '2007 new' 2005 model for 3 weeks now and 900kms on the clock.
I'm with you, its a great bike. Iwas after an SV as I like v twins and having ridden a CBR600 sometime ago wasn't too impressed with the roll-on. But the FZ6 is in a different league, plenty of pull from 4000 and I dont have to drop a cog to overtake at 100.
I got the FZ6 quite cheaply $10K, a drop of $2K off the list price.

Haven't seen any others mind you. But then thats good. When I bought my 'exclusive' Altezza, I saw 6 of them within 30 mins of buying it, all in lower hutt.

Whats you're economy like? I'm still running in so mine's irrelevant.

    cheers

    Dave.

I get between 300 and 350 to a tank, on the open road. A tank appears to be about 15L at empty, and 17L at really really empty (i.e. bike stops running... luckily when it happened to me it was right next to the gas station...). So that works out to be about 20km/L, or 4.8L/100km...

Its just about to get the rear tire replaced, with 10,500 on the clock. factory Air filters are $80, oil filters $20.

I have something beginning to play games with the injection... Once its warmed up, the fueling begins to have a nasty throttle lag when you roll on. This seems worse when I use premium fuels... I used to use Mobil, now Caltex (work fuel card) and they both have similar problems. Is this something you have come across?

I really enjoyed testing the FZ6n. Goes well, sounds like a jetski and it seemed to have the best suspension setup for a non-adjustable set that i've tried.

The only things that turned me off from buying one was the digital tacho and I found it a little too buzzy for me. Otherwise, great bike that goes like snot.

I got one. Love it (: Haven't come across the fuel injection lag issue you mention, but you could try the FZ6 forums over at Sportbikes.net—someone there is bound to be able to help. Could be because you ran the thing dry? I hear that fuel injection really hates that.
