Yay, congrats! How long did it go for, what did it consist of?

GP at $55 a visit? That would have been $165. I'd stick with the full eye test.

Maybe metric can fill you in on what his test consisted of.

For me it took about 40 minutes and involved riding around lower hutt in 50km/h and 70 km/h speed zones through intersections of every kind - give way, stop, uncontrolled, roundabouts and signals and turning from a median. Also had to do u-turns in both the 50k and 70k zones.

Had to wear the earpiece and identify hazards etc. Tester was a rider, but he was in his car because of forecast bad weather (which had cleared by the time of my test).

Didnt go into the 100km/h zone - I asked at the end of the test but he said they dont do that!

It was much easier than I thought it would be, and any rider whos been riding for a year or so would easily pass the test.

    Congrats to both of you.
I too have the joys of having to sit my full shortly. And the visit to the op's for the eye test (for the 4th time in just over a year.) Strange that there was a front page headline in the Dom only last week stating that over 70% of drivers fail the eye test and have to get a cert. Everytime I go for the eye test, they always want to do a full test. I walked out of 4 opticians because they weren't prepared to do the basic test for driving. They must love the government for bringing in the eye testing machine. And I'm sure there must be a lot of folks out there that pay for the full test because they don't know about the 'driving' eye test.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

yep, can do... I did my test out at Westgate AA. to set the scene, picture torrential rain. I also had an ear piece. He was in his jeep. We rode out of Westgate into the residential area for about 10 min, I did 40-45kph. Had to pull over twice, each time identifying where vehicles were coming from i.e. arrows pointing from which direction the cars were coming at me - identifying hazards

also had to do a u-turn - doing this in very heavy rain in a small residential street was a bit tricky but no worries...

drove around a bit more towards the open rd. got out on to SH 16, he told me twice to go faster (as again I was doing about 70-75kph) but it was still bucketing down...

we turned around & he said "make your way back to the station" - at that stage I thought I'd fucked it, either for failing to indicate coming out of roundabouts, going to fast through road works or not going fast enough during the test...

sure enough, back at the AA he noted that I was going quite slowly, and that I didn't indicate coming out of roundabouts but all's well that ends well - I passed

hope that helps those that are going to sit it...

    good luck too you guys
