Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
Must call in and grab a form...time is flying by.

From a quick look at the route sheet ... it heads up Rapaki track, along the summit to Gebbies, down to Motukarara, out to Springston, Selwyn river ... then I got lost. There an easy/hard diversion at one point as well for the more/less trail oriented bikes. I'll have a better look with a map sometime before the ride. Only got the route sheets, instructions to be handed out on the day.

Just gave out some points of interest along the way so people know the general area the ride's going to. I like to have an idea of where I'm going before hand so I figured others do to. I'm not planning on sticking the whole route on here once I suss it out. The other reason to get the route sheet earlier was so I'm not sticking it together on the Monday morning.

Looking forward to getting out and about as well as getting dirty again.![]()
Forecasting rain on the Coast for Saturday, which is where I'll be - forecasting rain and thunder on the coast for Sunday, which is where I'll still be - forecasting showers and fine spells for Canterbury for Monday, which is where I'll be. So, if you lose me on the ride, I'll be under my own personal raincloud that's been following me for the weekend.
No need to get it out, just close up that raincoat, and don't go getting dirty around me fella.

Bugger.
Got permission from the wife (still weird saying that), all relaxed and refreshed from the two weeks away and looking forward to getting out there with the chch dualsport crew. Only to reread this thread and discover that the ride on Monday is a more formal (and larger) affair. Not sure if I'm ready for that.
Getting out there with a few of you guys where I can learn and not worry too much about being the noob is one thing. Being on a big group ride is I think a little out of my depth just yet. So it looks like I'll be chickening out of this one. Might just go for a solo somewhere out the waimak or up into the port hills, get some practice in.
