Its a Christian Music Festival. - so its not at all like the Black Sabbath Concert they had at Waingaro Springs, Jacob! Although they do have "Christian Rock" groups apparently.

I beleive its not as bad as that sounds...........

Its the largest Christian music festival in the southern hemisphere
No drugs, no alcohol, no sex ... unless you are married. Very well policed, and if you manage to get the booze etc in and they find it you will be banned from the site.
Music covers all genres, and I mean all.
Its great value and heaps of fun, plenty of things other than music to occupy yourself.
hXc has been going since he was 11 and I have no concerns about his safety whilst there, apart from his obligatory annual visit to the on site hospital... don't ask, ok?

hmm.. I went there for three years in a row about three years ago, the entire of Matamata sold out of Condoms, a chick got taken out of the Endorphine Tent due to an overdoes of estacy and we had to keep moving our chillie bin of alcohol as the police keep raiding our tents..

It is run well, no alcohol is not available but yes there are always people who get kicked out with it. I'd say it is the safest event you could let your kid go to. They have safety gaurds walkin round at night. It is a great environment if your not into getting wasted.

They do indeed but if they get caught at Parachute they get their tickets taken off and not allowed back in

The Valley are awesome, but nothing compared to Dance Party! Dance Party have now been banned from playing at Parachute, because people were breaking bones in their moshpits and it was just chaos. Shame, 'cause they're an awesome band!

Waylander and Lias, you'd be surprised at the amount of heavier bands there. There was a stage there a few years ago called 'The Cage'. It was indoors, could hold about 1500 people, and they played the heavy, punk and generally, any other good stuff that would never be considered 'Christian'. Sadly, this stage no longer exists. But they do have the amatuer(sp?) stage thing. And that's usually a good place to go.

I heard of people this year (last time), taking Sambuka in tooth paste tubes.

Weird... I vote 'The Valley' as one of the crapiest bands to attend parachute. Even for a 'scremo' band they had no talent.

Band line ups don't look that great this year. Will still be going though....

Hmmm, I'd say no. Yes, I am into this music, so I will say it's good anyway. But, at Parachute, seeing them was dissapointing. I thought their sound was shit and they generally disinterested me. However, seeing them a few nights later at a local gig I went to, was completely different. It was basically the same set, but the sound quality was awesome, the vocalist sounded incredible and their stage presence was great.
