National claims Helen Clark's attacks on her critics have led to Wellington Airport turning down a National Party billboard.
It features a picture of the Prime Minister with the words: paintergate, corngate, doonegate, speedgate, pledgegate and then, above her head, departure gate.
At the bottom, are the words: "Proudly paid for by supporters of the National Party - with their own money".
National MP Bill English says the billboard is obviously too politically sensitive for Wellington Airport. He says the airport's refusal to allow the billboard indicates it is worried about incurring the wrath of a vindictive government.
However, Wellington Airport is staying tight-lipped over its decision not to display the National Party billboard.
Airport spokesperson Louise Murray says the airport reserves the right to decline any advertising. She had no comment on what grounds the decisions are made, or why this particular billboard was deemed unsuitable.
I hope it goes up elsewhere in the city. Freedom of Speech!!
