We have an interesting situation, where an organisation has gone out and solicited an event, then returned the offer to the NZ gubbinment with cap-in-hand.
The pointy ball game of rugby is a professional game. Some players earning more than a million dollars, corporate sponsorships, etc, etc.
The 11b surplus belongs to the taxpayers for the benefit of the nation, health, care for the elderly, roads, education, etc. The game of rugby should be self funding and since we have an abundance of stadiums throughout this land of ours, perhaps holding the games in established stadiums would be a better use of resources.

It's alright. The Portmaster, or CEO of the Port of Aucklnad, or whatever the hell they call people who have a job that means helping people use the harbour for profit and pleasure said that they can't have it done by 2011 because of the disruption to port operations. So there. Nyah.
