its still going ahead in the wind?
BP Botany - where is it?
Going to make me way now... bugger the weather, been waiting for this too damn long!

Minnie: F**k yeah!
Yes - it's still on. BP Botany is at the corner of Ti Rakau and Chapel Raod (just behind K-Mart) If you're coming up chapel road rom Papakura you will cross Ti Rakau at the lights - stay left and you'll see the BP.
10:30 - Mav might be there too. Weather has calmed a lot here - had a light drizzle a wee while ago but that's it.
See you soon

A big hello went out to Andrea and Mental Trousers who met us at the end of the run.

it was good fun... shame on all you who diddent come cuz u were scared of the weather
i wana go again when its not raining tho
Psssh i only didn't come because of exams.
Aye, it was a brilliant bit of soggy fun!
Lessons learned today:
1) Leaning into corners works. I've learned to trust my bike to get me round, I just need to remember that Daisy needs to be encouraged with a bit more body language.
2) Braking into corners should be done well in advance. This avoids scaring the bejesus out of your tail end charlie and having you finish cornering while laying down in a shower of sparks.
3) Wind can be your friend when it's behind you, but when you're leaning 10 degrees into it, be prepared to straighten up bloody quickly when it pisses off!
4) A learner on a quick bike should extend their following distance a bit more until they figure out their stopping distance. McJim almost got a Yamaha enema a couple of times in the first few k's due to an over-zealous newbie.
5) Wear good gear. I don't mind being a bit soggy, but I got home with enough condensed precipitation to provide water to a small australian drought affected town. (working on this, asked the SWMBO if I can investigate decent riding gear, and she didn't throw things at me!)
6) RELAX! It was awesome riding with the other guys, and they will never push you beyond your comfort levels. It took me about 20 minutes to get over my performance anxiety (I'm talking about bikes ya gutter minded perves!), and after a couple of short stops, and some brilliant pointers from GIJoe1313 and crew, I relaxed, stopped worrying about what others might be thinking, and just had a hell of a lot of fun.
7) Avoid Bovine Butt Mud! It stinks, it makes a mess, and it's slippery!
3 firsts today!
1) Met KB people and had an *official ride*!
2) Found 5th gear - 6th is in my sights soon!
3) Made it to 100 km/h - strangely, felt the same as 70, although the rain smacking into my visor was a little louder, which was a bit of a giveaway.
Brilliant day, looking forward to doing it again sometime, although I'd prefer to have my shower in me bathroom, not on the road.

Hmm, Donors post makes me want to come on one now! I actually went out today when the rain cleared to see if I'd find any bikers but to no avail![]()
Might have to sign up to the next one! Good to know other people are just saying hi to 6th gear as well, so I wouldn't feel like a hold'er-up'er :P
Oh dear god ...
Who was TEC and had to pick Donor up off the road ??
Now now... I managed to finish the trip without parting company... although with a few of the wind gusts, and my first 100 kph crossing with a cement truck, I'm bloody amazed I didn't!![]()
Right, enough talking shit from me, the head swelling is going down, so hopefully I'll be able to get me helmet off shortly, it was a pain in the arse eating dinner I can tell ya!![]()

So your telling me that you didn't .??
Having been TEC on the last one of these 250 runs and seeing a fellow biker almost lose it ... i would hate to think that any of us are pushing to hard and having bin's, yes we are out to improve our skills but we all need to know when to stop pushing.. i hope i never have to pick a fellow biker up off the road... that would suck.
Ah, the key is in the two vital omitted words in your quote...
"This avoids scaring the bejesus out of your tail end charlie and having you finish cornering while laying down in a shower of sparks"
I can see how my original post can be taken in another context though... rest assured, my organs are going to be mine for a good long while yet!
