I used to have one. They are fun around town, and not much good for anything else. You won't be doing any wheelies, a single cylinder and a centrifugal clutch takes care of that problem. Stoppies might be ok, the front brakes (brembo) are good enough, but the forks are softer than apple pie. I never tried...
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking. Racing around to come up behind you again.
Tony Mac races a Saturno in BEARS down here. They were a very trick bike in their day, I used to have a magazine article on them. Pretty much hand assembled from top notch cycle parts.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
Jeez, sometimes I feel so old.
You guys haven't heard of Gilera?![]()
Shame on you...
A proud old Italian marque.
Check out this rear suspension unit.
Not bad for 55 years old...
Which can't be said of course without mention of Geoff Duke http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoff_Duke
In recent times in this country (in the early 90's that is) how many remember the exploits of Simon Turner on the Gilera - he was so fast on that thing when I first saw it I couldn't believe it when I saw it was only a single cylinder bike? With Uncle Keith looking over his shoulder I watched him whip the engine out of that bike and replace a blown head gasket at Masterton one year and that was the first time I'd seen the bike and saw it was a rather simple looking watercooled twin cam single cylinder engine. I'd have to search for my photos of that bike.

yours was a four stroke right? or was i wrong and yours was a two stroke?
edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilera_Runner
i'm confused...
i read a website that said they used to be 180cc two stroke but are now 180cc four stroke but i cant find a link for it, i remember yours not being able to go much more than 120ish? Yet that wikipedia thing says they could do 160kmh.

I ment four stroke, not two stroke. I ment to say the opposite of what you said, In other words no mine was a two stroke not a four stroke.
Just because the speedo goes up to 160km/hr dont mean the bike will do that, mine did 134km/hr I think on a GPS.
There never was a 180 four stroke made, the 200 four stroke came about later on becuase of new emmision laws, the DNA180 was however a four stroke.
The gilera runner and dragster both had the same motors. Standard out of the factory they could do 0-100 in 6 seconds. 16hp at the wheel, which isnt bad for a CVT trans. With a Fabrizi kit you can get them producing around 38hp at the wheel.
