    Bloody mad - Italians

Well I had the (mis?) fortune of spending 3 company sponsored days in Milan (aka Milano for those that get so choosy), and I was looking forward to the wine, food, passion for all things fast...

... and to be in the home of Ducati!

So... in 3 days... ya reckon I saw ANY... even one?

    Nope.

Incredible. Vespas everywhere, jappas of most makes and models (loved the scrambler blasting about like lunatics), but no duc's, Aprilias and the like.

Maybe they're simply too valuable to bring into the city. Dunno, but...

    Aaaaa well...

    That's like Switzerland withour chocolate!

...or France without wreaths of garlic!

...or America without annoying fucking accents whining on about all the injustices they have to suffer because of terrorism!

(Seriously, I like *some* american accents, I mean those lazy ass home boy and the drawling back block sheep shagging accents, yeah you know, those ones... oh, and a couple of others... but they're not important...)

    All true.

And the accents I dislike are the ones that start with a mic in one hand and a beat box thing happening... I mean what's that about?

If you want to be clever and make drum noises without a drum... no problems but doesn't it defeat the point if... to make that sound you need to cart round a mic and amplification gear instead of a real drum?

"Milano isn't Italy... Milanesi aren't Italians..."

    Milano & milanesi are...."different."

It's safe to say I wouldn't take/leave my Duke anywhere there.

Get the Company to sponsor a trip and have a look-see a little further south next time...

Did you get a chance to drive over there? Hell, I wouldn't ride a Ducati in an Italian city either. They all live in apartments and seem to have 2 small cars each.

Italians aren't daft - they know Ducati's are mediocre and expensive to repair with crap electrics. Why do you think all the wealthy Italians drive German cars and Japanese Sportsbikes!

Japan and NZ is where the Ducatis are sold! For some reason people in Japan and NZ think Europoean stuff is cool.

P.S. if you know me you'll know I'm thinking about getting a Monster 400 or 620 for my next bike....

I've spent years defending my compatriot's driving standards/abilities...

Finally got to take the missus for a 4wk ride up&down the country on the RF, showing her the sights, meeting the family etc... I ended up abusing just about every car/driver that came 'round corners. Got sick n tired of coming 'round a bend to find a car half way across the road.

So I don't defend 'em/us any more. We drive how we drive.

If you do ride a duke in Italy I hear the cops will encourage you to pop a wheelie.
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..
