    Death Statistics

Taken from an email sent to me, no sources named.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue of the U.S.
involvement in Iraq , here's a sobering statistic.

There has been a monthly average of 160,000 troops in
the Iraq theatre of operations during the last 22 months,
and a total of 2,112 deaths.

That gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.
The firearm death rate in Washington D.C. is 80.6 per
100,000 Persons for the same period.

That means that you are about 25% more likely to be
shot and killed in the U.S. Capitol than you are in Iraq .

Conclusion: “The U.S. should pull out of Washington”
Ok, havent confirmed the numbers of soldiers to die in Iraq, but the number of Murders/Death by nonnegligent manslaughter for 2005 is 3.3 per 100,000 - so therefore 72.6. Source here.

Its an interesting slant on things however.

Edit: Just realised that the figures given on the FBI site will be for a 12 month period . . . so that would make it 6.05 deaths for a 22 month period? Or am I reading these figures all wrong? Perhaps this is a case of "dont believe everything you get emailed"?

Look at it this way ...

The US has spent more time fighting in Iraq, than they spent fighting in WWII ...

    LOL . . .

Ok, rather than edit my edit, I've also just realised that the FBI site is talking the state of Washington, not Washington DC. This is becoming a mission trying to verify the stats. There is a site here that is desputing them, but their figures dont tie in to well with the email (talking 33 months instead of 24) plus they dont quote sources either.

Or the fact that NZ got a bill for full and final payment of their lend/lease agreement in 1944. Which we paid. Guess why we had no currency reserves until 1987.

85% of all statistics are made up or inaccurate. Those are my own figures.

i would have thought a soldier in iraq is more likely to be blown up than shot. how many people died last year from suicide bombers in washington? none i would hazard a guess

Hmmm... May be that's because Russians have done most of the dying back then and their casualty rate was in tens of millions as opposed to thousands?

Nothing to do with Islam, just the way those fanatics think. Don't forget that Hitler was a Christian
