So true Garry re prices, I'm aware of that.

What mileage can one expect to get out of the SV's before spending lots of money on them.....referring to Jills bike which has about 25000 on the dial.

Yes I have had a BMW 600CC and an 850CC back in 1980 when I was still living in Holland. Then had a bike here in NZ for a short time before changing to a car.

    Hi Eric

    I have just PMd you.

Sorry it's taken me a few days to get back to you, life's been a little hectic over the past couple of weeks.

Mines got 20000 road miles(32000ks?) and I've lost count of the Trackdays Ive done on it with the engine being made to work very hard indeed. All this is without the Speedo on the bike. Only Maintenance I've done so far is changed the oil and filter plus several chains and lots of tyres. Still runs great and I don't feel any pressing need to check anything yet. If I was keen I'd put new rings in, rise the compression, and fit cams from an injected one.

As for fuel consumption its somewhere around 200ks per fill but if your riding hard in lower gears you can probably half that.

my road bike had 45000 on the clock when I sold it. No mechanical issues at all in he time I had it - just kept up with the servicing. (was a 99 carbed model).

For the money you're looking to spend the injected models are a better buy. However I prefer the styling of the older curvy model.
