    Well bugger me

What a road trip that was; got a call from Speedie on wednesday night to organise times and a meeting place and 12:20 on Thursday lunch we're out of here. Down SH1, good time to Taupo with no worries. Well, some roadworks but nothing major. It's hot and the roads are dry and we meet WYBMADIITY in Taupo town. While we're waiting Kiwi fruit fly's past. Chattin in Taupo We learn of 2Much's fall and of a new budding relationship So we're off again after an hours break.

Then over to Napier, putting down a decent pace but the old legs are starting to feel it and we stop every 100k's or so for a smoko and to stretch the legs as the aerobics on the bike just aint cuttin it. Beautifull STRAIGHT roads with the odd twistie; i'm leading as i have the bacon detector. Then all of a sudden Glen flies past.. TWISTIES... well 4 corners at least.

We find the windiest coldest town on earth... WOODVILLE... man was that place cold, even the locals walking down the highstreet wore balaclavas!!! Some more roadworks later on meant riding on brand new tar and shingle the odd copper but the bacon detector gives us plenty of notice.

Into Greytown, theres a drunk stop with rozzas EVERYWHERE, we get waived through and decide to have a beer and fush & chups whilst we phone Poos to get directions teh last 10 minutes. We get stopped by the mufti as we set off and with a hell of a load of fortune we get let of the 126 alledged speed and someones lack of warrant, L-Plate, licence and rego is overlooked.... YOU BEAUTY!!

Up the goat track and we're at Poo's...well... not quite that simple really.. riding up the goat track speedie flys up the hill like a man posessed whilst i tootle up the hill with a WYBMADIITY. next thing we come to a junction, it's pitch black and i can't see where Speedies gone to... so i break.. break and wtf.. why is my back wheel in front of me????? somehow i manage to stay up right.

Some beers , sing a longs and dancing the rest of the guys turn up, Mac the knife, Gareth D, Postie & Cibbie. well.. some more beers and next thing i know we're 3 up in bed, Glen, WYBMADIITY and myself

wake up bright and early to drip..drip drip.. drip.. drip... WTF is that???! yup..poos has a leak and the waters pissin in..BIACH... its pissin down outside. My heads anything but normal and the phone rings... I see an 027 number and think its poos.. "What ya want ya CU*t??!!"...."Hi Duncan, its James from the employment agency!!"...wooops!

So, some coffee, 10 fags and a shower later we're going over the hill in the pissin down rain and wind... oh yeah, we're in Wellywood!!! Poos shows me his spot on the hill and Glen takes off like a man possessed.. well that lasted 30 seconds and he's back doing 20k again

Here we are at Deano's place, we have a yarn for an hour or so loads more peeps turn up and i'm starting to get cold and my feet feel like sponges.

    ......

The day was very memorable, moving and it was a real honour to say goodbye to Bruce.

    ......

Back to Deano's, on this piss; i get beat up and abused and have a good chat with loads of people from all over NZ!! texmo and whitetrash's brother get onto it with the boxing gloves, then i'm told its my turn with Dover; the lanky pie eater has some pent up aggression he needs to let go apparantly so i'm the designated punch bag. Someone, luckily, tells him NO more fighting..pheeeew!!!

So the oriiginal plan was to head back north with Glen as he had work the next day. Luckily Jen & Death_inc. persuade him to stay! So we're off to there mates 20 minutes up the road to crash. Did i mention it's pissin down again?? dark visor on, pitch black, torrential rain we get to there mates house. OH.. no change of clothes, so i stand in there kitchen after a hot shower in my wet weather gear leakin all over the kitchen floor. Some time later its head down, only to wake up at 3:30 thinking a crabs in the livin room trying to get me; Using the light on the phone.. i soon realise i'm dreamin so back to sleep

Up early, im sat in teh garden in my boxers drinkin coffee and smokin again..oh and its rainin. We arrange to meet up with Can et al at Shannon, however after trying to find a bike shop so we could buy some wet weather gear we're running late. First Lower Hutt then Upper Hut, or maybe the other way round, we find motormart(?), buy some gear and we're off again... IN THE RAIN!

we meet up with Sugilite and Kel and have a coffee and a bite to eat, get an awesome bit of advice.. buy 2 bungies and put ya backpacks on teh seat.. YOU MUPPETS... Duh! now the munkies are off our backs; Sugilite puts down a good pace an we follow for an hour or so before we say our goodbyes!

We catch up with Macthe knife and then we find BugJuice and pillion(Gav) and some mint twisties. We say goodbye to Bugy and teh guys and decide to go via national park as a trip over to Rotorua isn't a pretty thought. My H.A.R.D systems just run out of batteries. We should make up half an hour going via teh park... well we would have if we hadn't been stopped by mrs Sergeant in her red, white and blue, dry cage.

Well.. speedie stopped.. i carried on. Only to feel guilt so i go back. apparantly shes just about to let him off and i open my mouth.. BUGGA!!!! we have a laugh and a joke and she cuts us a deal.. $120 and only 20 points and she tells us we can share the fine... thanks !

So we're off again. We stop in Ohakune to get some more batteries for my bacon buster. Then we hear this ding a ling ding ding.. "YOU guys need more horse power!!" Wtf.. some bloke on a bicycle, an old bsa with a motor on it stops and has a chat.. WHAT a machine!!

The skies clear, pretty uneventful other than the subaru following Glen for about 10k's. Back to Papakura and theres a rainbow pointing us home.

So back home, everyones in bed, i have a 2 hour shower to get warm and all my wet kits sat on the bike; The next day i feel anything but human.. and cant face a ride out with Logan etc so i stay home and play with teh kids

so any ways.. today, i get a call at home, "Hi-er its ****, from Ohakune police station"..oh bugger.. what have i done now? apparantly she'd been thinking about our ticket and didn't think it fair for me to cop the 20 points and let old Glen off... "Throw it in the bin and look after yourselves, i don't want to have to pick you guys up off the road!" NICE WORK!!!!

so.. feeling normal again.. WHAT A ROAD TRIP !!!

Thank you to the people who put us up, Poos & Aria, Death_Inc & Jen, Deano & partner. Good to meet a LOAD of new faces and a LOAD of old faces.. AND give it fuckin heaps Bruce, Bruce & Daryl... Go hard boys!!!

    * sorry for Gramma, spellin and all that other shit

same same big ups to you and ALL your road trips brother!!!

funny thing is.. well typically me really, i checked teh weather forecast before leaving and it said minter... saturday some showers!

So, not wanting to be garish at the funeral home i decided to wear my Spidi wet weather gear BUT.... BUt i decided to pull the linning out as i thought i'd be too hot. YUP the linnings the waterproof bit... DUH!

$150 later for a waterproof one piece saw me right comin home.. it kept the wet in and the wet out

that reminds me, i'll start another thread asking for opinions on my wet weather gears and the lifespan or rather lack of..

Yowsa, sounds like you had a ride and a half! Oodles of fun and some good karma coming your way from the let offs! You managed to pack a heap of comings and goings - amazed you had time to get off the bike at all!

Glad to hear all was well and like you, I was checking out the range of wet weather options (my only regret? I should have bought my two piece sooner, plonker that I am!)
