Bugger - They tell me it is a sealed unit so repair is a no-go.... Time to start shopping for a replacement that will do the job.

Does anyone know the specifications of a 2006 ZX10 rear shock?

Bugger, the GSXR1000 shock is 335 mm long, so at full extension the spring rubs on the frame. All is not lost - I did manage to squeeze the preload up a little on the existing shock and it feels significantly firmer, however I am yet to ride it further than 100M.

    The hunt continues....

you can use any oil cooler shock or the water cooled ones up to 1997 (different size bikes have different spring rates but still fit)
after that ive ben told that the dimensions change.
im looking for one too if you find a good source.

Still no joy in finding a replacement, although the bank account is pretty thin at the moment so no rush. Ive had a look on ebay and there are a good selection of later model GSXR springs. Anyone know of a bike with same dimensions as this one?

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/at...3&d=1160436665

    Length: 310mm

Dont know what the connections at the end of the springs are called? Bracket at the bottom, eyelet at the top?

ooh, there was a guy selling a J model a while back, he had put a newer model's shock on it, the mod he had to do was to swap the huge ass standard battery for a different one (reduced the weight to!) and propped the back up a bit, he was a mechanic and said it handled awesome

    here was the auction: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...n-77528151.htm

Hmmm, interesting. I guess the 2004 GSXR shock cant be much longer, as I tried a K1 GSXR1000 shock & the extra length meant the spring pushed on the swing arm at full extension.

Ok, does anyone have the dimensions available for a GSXR750 K1 rear shock?

I may have just been thrown a huge lifeline:

WOW!! Its a new bloody bike!

Thanks to all of those who helped me to sort this out! - The Stranger gave me a rear shock from his K3 Gixxer 1000 to try and Jim2 offered to send me a shock as well!!

    Stoked
