The new NSW "One Strike" rule for P-Platers

The NSW Government is to introduce a controversial "One Strike" rule for P-Plate drivers and riders. Now, before I go any further, for those of you who don't know, every state in Oz has is't own independent Government. That's complete with soveriengty! That's why crooks from WA have to be extradited to NSW. Anyway, the new law means no demerit points for P-Platers. They lose their licence on the first offence!! The P-Platers (Provisional Licence) are equivelent to the NZ Restricted Licence. You can read about it here:

There is, however, one point of unity in Aus - the pollies and cops think that the rest of the population is crooked and should be locked up, whilst the general populace knows that the pollies and cops are all crooked and should be locked up.

It sounds like a sort of step in the right direction to me, maybe.
The harder it is to get a license the better, the standard of people who are able to legally drive in NZ is appalling.

I have a friend who has a near miss because of her terrible driving nearly every time she goes out. I refuse to be a passenger in her car.

If it happens in Victoria, we'll have it here within the hour.

Interesting idea, glad I'm not young anymore.

Yep, NSW is the perfect model for road safety policy and police enforcement.

I'm in favour of that for certain offences. Or make them resit their licence for all first offences.

    Sounds like a wonderful idea.

Would be interesting if they were to extend it such that on your 2nd offence (or really bad 1st), that you start over again from the Learners stage - resit tests and restart the time they've had their licence. It'll then cost plenty and take ages for the Darwin special idiots to get their full licence or they'll give up.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.
