www.zillion.co.nz is closest direct competition, but its still fucking dead there compared with Trademe.
www.sellmefree.co.nz is the next best, but it's not an auction style site, classified listings only.

"I'm gonna get to the bottom of this, and I dont give a fuck if you're at the top!!!"
I'm a ebay fanatic and don't understand why it's never taken off here... TradeMe's search capabilities suck arse and it's soooo annoying how you get truckloads of unrelated items in your search
But yeah, TradeMe is a rip off nowadays.
"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule
Yep - I have a Paypal account hooked up to my Mastercard.![]()
I haven't had much problem finding people to ship to NZ (most will do it if you ask them nicely...) and the shipping isn't too bad either. I find it amusing that I can buy things cheaper from the other side of the world than I can buying it in NZ!
Trade Me could learn A LOT from ebay, particularly in categorsing items, enabling sellers to customise the format of their listings, and filtering search results...

Yep, eBay pwns tardme. Tardme as far as a web app goes is pretty low tech and basic. Which is part of how they became so big I'm picking... still, they've dropped the ball as far as implementing new features goes.
Thanks for the heads up about Zillion. Looks good, I read and compared all the fees and it tallys well. How many people know about?
I might advertise there first and see how it goes.

I thought it was just me, but? my cash intakes down and fees seem to be up. + the idiot content is rising fast, I can't be botherd with people who ask for feed back, as if its a game? You buy a car at Turners and you don't get a thank you letter!, Feedback should only be for the baddies. Its all changing out there, it's the greeeeed factor, Funny thing is Gareth Morgans a biker!!!!
it's cost me $20 each to list my vespa and FZR400 which i had listed as projects (what they are), but were then pulled for being in the wrong section. I would run an auction but i cant see the justification in $20 success fee... how is that any different to someone ringing you through a classified and buying what you have?

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
Got something I wanted off Zillion, though I think it's more geek focused, with like TV, comps and consoles etc.

Hey, kids! Captain Hero here with Getting Laid Tip 213 - The Backrub Buddy!
Find a chick who’s just been dumped and comfort her by massaging her shoulders, and soon, she’ll be massaging your prostate.
I disagree, I think it safeguards the buyer, and makes the seller a little more diligent in making sure their merchandise is up to standard.
I do get jaded about the fact that everything is a "sellers market" on trademe, it would be nice to have a section on trademe where you posted up what you want, and what you can afford to pay for it, and the damn traders chase you instead of the other way round. Actually, the idea wouldn't have to be limited to trademe...
That Ferrit thing, once again, the buyer is the one with the cash, and he or she is made to do all the damn work..... make the people who want the money at least meet you halfway, or better imo. The same principle as the Sales Rep for any company who wants your money, they come knocking on your door for a change.
Homer you shot the zombie Flanders !
He was a Zombie?
So they won't want any of my manky old Guzzi parts then?
Unless I word it to the target consumer![]()
