Fair call, I see your point.

I'll still stick by my estimate, but if Hitcher's a very patient man that $5K will most likely be attainable.

Yes they do, it's one part of the picture that helps give a price when taken into account with age, features, desirability, etc. Hitcher claims the condition is consistant with the age and km's travelled, so there is your indicator.

Just blame your keyboard and the faulty 'r' button.

I'm with the nay sayers - it's worth 4/5ths of fuck all.The used car market is worse than global warming, everything has melted down and we are up to our eyeballs with quality cars no one can move. The market is more than flooded - someone has built a dam and the cars just keep pouring into the country and have backed up the system. The septic is full and can take no more crap.Subaru's are choice in the demo derby.Non turbo Impressa's are not even fit for a girls car.

Stick to fixing cars Motu, I'll stick to selling them (well running a yard that sells them). My price has now been confirmed to me by two dealers, one who wants to see the car asap as he has a buyer for it! Had to tell him that I'm not trading it, just helping a friend get a price for it. He finished the convo by saying 'well if there is a chance let me know'.

Well, let's just see what Hitcher gets for it parked on his front lawn with a for sale sign. You see buyers....I see sellers saying my car is worth nothing....

Hey, he's only got one arm -- tying a tie must be a major challenge for him!

And good advice thanks guys. I'm tossing up whether or not to faff around doing the Trademe/private sale thing (I am a bit jaded towards Trademe after getting red repped by the guy who walked away from my Zeal sale) or just taking it down to Turners and taking my luck on the fall of the hammer.

Of course any Kiwibikers who may want to stump up with some readies on an as-is-where-is basis could be in luck... Hey, you can even have it for the weekend and take it for a fang if you're really keen!

FWIW it has been serviced every six months by Harbour City Subaru (just been bought out by Armstrongs) ever since I've had it.

get OAB to sell it for you - if he can get you close to $5k, you owe him a beer or two.

red book says $1600 to $2600

Figure this is as good a place as any to ask.

How much would a 1995 Toyota Camry, 1.8L auto with just over 200,000km and a few small dents in the left-hand side be worth, and how should I go about selling it?

I bet he wouldn't pay that much in folding.....but as a trade in - has he got a deal for Hitcher!!!!!
