This is torture. I am at work with a view of the motorway between the Symonds Street and Grafton Road bridges. I haven't been able to go a minute without seeing a biker and now I'm seeing convoys of up to a dozen bikes at once.

I hope you guys and gals are having lots of fun. Wish I could be there.

I am now watching the convoy go down the Wellesley Street offramp. Good Lord that's a great many motorbikes. Surprised the floor isn't vibrating from the noise!

    National News at Noon

Traffic chaos on the Southern Motorway with overbridges blocked by spectators. Sounds like a great event; wish I was there. However, it is a great day in Wellington - going for a ride.

Tell us your stories about the ride.
    Here for the ride.

    Here's my story:

Slept in, missed start, got me and Bekki's sorry arses to the East Tamaki overbridge, made a video, posted it here.

Vid is set to music with lots and lots and lots and LOTS of bikes, including coppers near the end..... all those bikes sounded GOOD on the bridge.

Just got back from the ride.

I had an AWESOME time with an estimated 1500 bikes on the ride

Best part was the tunnel after the Wellesley Street offramp where everyone revved the crap out of their engines.... sound was phenomenal.

Thanks to all, met far too many people for my tiny brain to remember your names.

English bloke on the red SV1000 - I know I said it before, but I really like your bike

Ulysses are still in negotiation with Transit and are hopeful that the ride will be allowed to go ahead next year... just hope none of the cagers forced to wait on the onramps for us decide to complain

Yep - an awesome ride indeed!

Was talking to some of the Ulysses guys - they said there were 2000 badges available, and they ran out - so this may be a good indicator (not including pillions) as to how many went on this

Awesome to see the spectators on all the overbridges - and the reason for us doing the ride (the Westpac chopper doing a flypast at the start)

Lets hope that the sandle-wearing red-tapers dont wreck this for all next year...
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

Good day with 100's of bikes The ride along the motorway was faster than previous years, rarely getting below 100kph.

Nice to see so many KB shirts, patches and stickers being displayed

Also found a good way to get a cold drink without the queueing. Put two cans of V in the freezer the night before so they were frozen solid the next morning when I put them in the tail of the bike. They were nicely thawed, but still chilly cold at the end of the ride. No waiting in line for a cold one.

Will be doing the ride again next year, no metter what transit say.

Sitting here, basking in the warm fuzzy afterglow of a good day out! Thank gawd I got my bike ride worthy again and made it!

Just pissing down now with liquid sunshine and my little bro is sucking down a cold brewski - we were meant to be spraying his car with a new lick of paint...but it can wait

What can I say? Glad to see so many kbers and other supportive riders out there doing it!
