Slippery surfaces are a curse. The only time I dropped my monstrosity of a CB550 was due in part to a slippery surface (and in part to the fact I'm such a short-arse I only could get the tips of my toes on the road) - fully stopped, both feet at tip-toe, slightly wet road --> right foot skating out from under me, bike going down and me doing the splits of the top of it. Had a hell of a job getting the heavy bike back on its wheels toute seule. ("On me Todd," for the less pretentious ones out there.)

Have I ever mentioned how much I love how light the XT225 is?

Ah, bugger about the drop, spare a thought for Dai - he ended up busting his back (more) making sure he didn't drop his one!

If only all our bins/drops/accidents were like this Riding bikes is always a humbling/humiliating experience when things go pear-shape and only results in a loss to eo, pride, dignity and vanity!

Won't be the first time it's ever happened, nor will it be the last time - just make sure you aren't around when it does!

Seems I'm not designed to go backwards, either.

Glad you are ok..... and its just your ego that has been hurt.
I thought something similar when I saw the thread, but his ego is big enough to handle a few dents

Good to hear that it wasn't anything major.. A lesson learnt though.. I've nearly been there a few times, but managed to save it. Kinda take a few things for granted though.. and carelessness creeps in and bites ya butt to remind ya not to take anything for granted.. i.e. reversing the bike out/into garage etc.

Just aslong as you explained to your cubs how this occurred, why it occurred, and how to avoid it in future =)

Toaster, you must be a pretty big lad if you'd only be "a bit" squished by a Boulevard - I'd probably be puree.

Dang, sorry to hear that! So I gather that both you and the bike were saved from damage? The ol' backwards thing isn't as easy as we'd like to think. I've had a few close calls myself. I've found the old beastie is a bit diffcult to back up once cornered on an incline (of almost any gradient!).

Oh yea me and bike were ok, and I had a bit of a giggle... I guess I will just add that to my list of things to practice
