Was my first street race since I was like 6. AWESOME day, perfect weather, loads of people, insane bike riders. Truely awesome. Can't wait till next year!
That bike park.... Never have I seen so many bikes. I don't think I have seen that many bikes collectivly in my entire life EVER. I think I had one of the only Hyobags there. I saw only one other
I have also come to the conclusion that sidecar racers are missing the part of their brain which controls fear of death. I almost died from just watching them![]()
What speed would those big bikes be doing do the straight? I have never seen anything like it. They were going past so quick! Didn't have to wait long at all and they were coming past again!
Aweosme awesome awesome!
Took nearly 200 photos, will post them up after I get my computer to talk to the new camera.

see her, you'll never free her

Id say the top guys in the F1 class, the 1000cc bikes, would be hitting 200 down the main straight, problery faster.

well my first visit to the hack saw went alright
i had not been to the pearoa street race for about 10 years, the last time i went i was working for bel-ray, and they were the major sponsors,
the learners practise and our motard practise went well, i had scored alright at wanganui so i was off grid 8 for race 1, i was 12 fastest in qualifing but spent most of the time in traffic after overshooting turn 1 early on,
race one and i got a good jump, i was 6th though turn 2 with Mitch Rowe ahead, a couple of the bigger bikes got me on the main straight, i lost a few places in the post office left hander after running very ride and getting 2 close to the bails, i got really wide off the kink on the back straight before the haripin, i was in the gutter and clipping the wool sacks with my footpeg, i thought i had lost it but manages to get it back on the track, Scotty Moir got next to me coming on to the front straight after this, he managed to outbrake me into turn one, i still could not get mitch in front so ended up 10th in this race, not to bad, but i new i could do better,
race 2 was the last race of the day, i got a good jump off grid 10 but Nick Payne on the black husqy got a shokking jump right in front of me, i ended up in a race long battle with Mitch Rowe and Squid on another RMZ450, Squid got me at one stage but i got him back into turn one, taking the white flag right next to mitch i though i could get him, however he was a bit later on the brakes into turn one and i never got close enough in the haripuin to have another run at him,, Briggs crashed out of so i think i got 9th in this race, i would have liked ot be a couple of places hire in each race, it showed that i had not raced on tarmac since wanganui and i still lack corner speed, need to get to some more race days
It was a long day for two races, i think i might need to get 2 bikes and do 2 classes next year, great day, big crowd in,
Auckland club and pearoa trust did a good job, still i can not get over the messing around between races in road racing, i am used to mx that is a bit more quick fire, maybe i need to turn the a d d down a bit and relax,
i had a digital video camera on board, which worked fine on the the dummy grid but i kept going blank as soon as i got going on the track, so no video's sorry,
some pics from the day
Awesome day! Couldn't believe how fast the Super-Motards were! Especially number 23! What the heck was that?
Is this a pic of NZ's fastest Indian? Amazing acceleration from the start!
You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.
Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!
I didn't realise that they gave a lot of the proceeds tohe voluntary organisations that help on the day. Big ups for that.
At $20 an adult, and $10 a kid plus gas money and food (if bought) make for a quite expensive day out for a large family. With 15,000 people, surely they could have enough revenue with $10 adults and $5 kids with a $30/$40 family pass? (not that I have a family, but just mindfull of these things!)
However, as I said, bigups that they put the extra dosh back into the local community, and that they actually plan these sorts of things, I mean look at how Auckland went on the V8 street racing, it would be brilliant if we could organise a similar sort of event...we have plenty of possible venues...
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
Also, forgot to mention, it was an awesome day. Some of those guys have some serious skill.
