[QUOTE=Gunner;955029]Update....
Solution...
Tonight I unscrewed the small piece of hard plastic underneath the camera at the front, That is where the mic pick-up is, Under this plastic is a rubber diaphragm of some sort and under that is 4 holes that lead into the mic.
The diaphragm is for the water proofing, but I think that it also plays a big part in the audio quality. As it lets sound vibes thru it first then into the mic(works like a filter).
So far I have done some "voice" tests on it without the diaphragm and plastic, and It picked up the sound really good, It has made it more sensitive and clearer.
Will try to go for a ride tomorrow night with it taped in the same place, and see if it has made a difference.
How did that work out?

Sound is a lot better now, there doesnt seem to be that irritating noise that was there before and you can hear the bike more, but I am getting a bit of wind noise that I didnt get before. Will try it without the plastic bit at the bottom and see if that makes it any clearer, then will try to put a very small bit of foam or something similar where the diaphragm used to be to reduce the wind noise.

Hey guys tested the camera again… as you do, I defiantly have to sort out a proper mount to take out the vibration. Also the ride I went on (ATNR) started out west directly into the sun needles to say the captured image was crap, but once sun was behind me it defiantly got better I tried a lower setting of 15fps and it is still good for computer and TV viewing. I captured four films all varying in length and file size (naturally). As soon as I get better filming I will find a way to post them….but once again fark what a great piece of equipment.![]()
I was next to you at the start of the ride last night, mine still turned itself off just going on the motorway to get to the ride. Tryed it again half way but the same thing happened again.
It got me thinking maybe i could be the "SD" card that i got, i go two 2gb cards for just under 60 bucks new ( real cheapys), and i don't think they like the good vibes that the bike is giving off. maybe the more $$$ spent on a card would have been a good thing.
So whats the overall verdict on these cameras?
Too early for an "overall" yet![]()
Spare set of rechargable batteries and a spare 2GB (50 bucks) SD card and you've got reasonable recording. Never mind for recording purty bike vids, I was thinking of when some dickhead pulls out in front of you etc.
Can it take external lenses or audio input? How heavy is it from a bike mounted POV
EDIT. Certain types of 2GB SD cards with a kiwibiker discount could be sold for a mere 40 bucks.
Is it this one here? Notice they've got a helmet strap! Not often Noel Leeming does flippin bargains!

I have also chosen to use the fastest SD memory card that I can, because I'm wondering about the inbuilt buffering system with the Oregon. Then again, you can be quite philosophical and say "what the fkk do you expect out of a $200 hobby camera!!....!"
As for the mounts - the suction cup option is excellent for sprots bikes, provide you don't have squillions of honda stickers planted ovet the deck of the tank. Sticks like shit on a brick wall, even on gentle curved surfaces, and the camera peers over the instruments and screen. I had this mounted on my VFR but because of the higher fairing, the camera had to peer through the
screen. Worked great until you get sun-flares, and in my case (over the Takaka Hills), a dust cloud that turned out to be a swarm of bugs (you know, only the size that the S.I can produce!).
For me, my only real option is the mirror stem mount - almost as good!
Incase you are interested in these, you may want to phone Ram Solutions on ph 0800-246-426
I was looking at the suction cup mount on the RAM website for my Oregon camera. Did it solve the "switch-off" problem? I've played around with a range of foam mounts on the bars but there really is too much vibration there with the Bandit so I'm looking at a tank mount solution. There are the cheaper petrol filler bolt-on arrangements, but I like the thought of being able to remove the suction cup system easily.
if you need memory go here http://www.pricespy.co.nz/
at the moment there are 178 places selling 2G, SD Ram the cheapest is 27 including gestapo tax

I thought I was going to be happy with my set up but will have to do a little more thinking around the vibration issue. Bugger![]()
