Looking at getting my first bike...

I am looking at getting my first bike and like the look of the naked bike esp the bandits. I have heard that you get nailed by the wind and I might be better off getting a bike with fairings. Any imput would be appreciated.

Well, what can I say? Get a little ol'Hornet! Nice big 180 on the back, easy to handle and goes like a dream - naked riding at twofiddy best! Nice even delivery of power and can handle whatever you want to do.

It's a lovely little bike, it won't let you down (just your wallet is all!) I'm biased and prejudiced anyhows - the v-twin boyos will be along soon and so will the sprotsbikers!

    Go you!

Its not so bad, especially if you put a givi screen or something on the front, watch the petrol though, those bandits are thirstyer then most other 250s, mind you, the 4 cylinders in general are. Perhaps if you like the naked style a VTR would be a good option, I know that the Scottish rider (he who shall not be named ) has one that will be up for sale at some point and its in mint condition. (And it has an aftermarket screen).

And I will say Twighlight Road Make for a good motard as well eh GIJoe

VTR's are good bikes........can vouch for how the scotsman's goes.

Bandit..........I love the rumble GIJoes produces

Best bet is to try and ride a variety and find the one that fits you best, not what someone else says is best for you. Also make sure you leave enough money in the bank for some good gear.

Ummm... GiJoe rides a hornet, see above post, and the reason it sounds so nice is the twin aftermarket exhausts

if u want speed get a 2 stroke tzr, nsr or rgv or a 4 stroke cbr, zxr, fzr.

Keep in mind you can make any bike a streetfighter and look mint with custom headlights + fender, bar mounted mirrors & speedo

Get a ZXR250c, they are awesome bikes. Best of the lot, up there with the cbr 250rr.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

I've got a Bandit, and I treat it like sh!t (I leave it outside all the time, little to no general maintainance and I ride it pretty hard + i'm big dude!) and it never complains.

New Oil Filter after purchase, new rear tyre when canvas started to show through. New brake lever after a drop (no other damage to the bike, so damn solid) all in all a very smooth ride.

Maybe not the quickest out there, but man oh man, it just never stops!

I can vouch for the Bandit, just don't take them offroad through fences. Fairly thirsty though.

My bandit is a sweet little bike, and it goes really well.
The wind is only really a problem over 120/130 ish, but not if you lean over the tank a bit. I really don't think about it very often, and riding a cbr, it wasn't a huge difference.
I think the cbr/zxrs have a bit more hp in the top revs but not much difference. I too would recommend checking a few out and ideally ride a couple. Just buy whatever floats ya boat, if ya think the bandits are sexy, and they are , then get one.

Do you mean wind from the front or side on? Front on yeah can be hard work in strong winds and a fiaring does help a little, strong side on winds the naked would be a better bike as something like a GPX250 is like a sail and as they are light bikes you just end up trying to keep it in a stright line and slowing down a lot more than you would on a naked.
    Well thats my experiance.
