If you do go finance, go to a bank, not a finance company. You will pay half the intrest.
And if the bank says no then the finance companys will just screw you in the long run anyway, they love to loan you more than you can afford.

Just get the cash first, remember if you get finance of any sort ya gonna pay probably another half of the bike in interest.
Those who dont learn from history, are doomed to repeat it.
hey Coyote,
If that was a blue 636 with all the fruit you rode at TSS - it is a 2004 bike.
Used to be my old bike.
Set up by Shaun and apart from the engine everything else that can be done to make it faster has been done.
But .... in my hands it's done about 3000kms between 12-15K rpm (track, Coro, Scenic Drive & Night rides) and 6,000kms open road riding.![]()
And he offered me 9K for it - which was a steal for what all he got - just something to keep in mind while negotiating, if you want to buy it.

Don't have time to read everything - but see if the Bullshit -- I mean Cowpoos's deals work out - as they put you on some nice machinery.
However - make sure you don't end up getting something so pretty you're scared of riding it. An older gixxer or R6 would be an awesome big bike to learn on. - Or how bout a GSXR750 SRAD - brilliant bikes.
Did you watch that Deuce Bigalow movie? Yeah... that's the kinda market I'd be at
TSS mentioned that, saying it'd be another $800 a year. I understood that after my old CBR cost me $500 a year (And the RG only costs me $9 a month)
I've thought of that, cause those Gixxers are at the point where they're old enough to look kinda retro cool. Are they just as entertaining or would it be nothing like that ZX6R I rode?
I might soon 'need' it because the RG might cost too much to really bother getting it back to warrant spec. Would I rather spend that on another much nicer bike or just keep the RG at passable spec and be worried every 6 months?
I've yet to take it to the warranter, it'll be good to see what really needs to be done
Yeah, I saw it was an '04 on the motorcycle trader site
Suspension was set up brilliantly (not that I've ridden many good bikes to compare it too). You could feel the suspension actually keeping the wheels on the road, unlike the RG where the front often goes airborn when you hit bumps on corners.
Don't think I'd be able to negotiate him down without cash, or without a good trade in bike.
I'm semi interested in insurance write offs (but only cosmetic damage) only to get back on the road might be costly. I'm still waiting on a mate to give me the number off a mate of his that owns an old R6. If it's a good deal I might be tempted into snapping that up, but otherwise I've cooled down and I'm willing to take some time to save up... untill I ride another one
I don't want to dare ride new bikes and find out they're good. It'll only land me with a bigger debt to pay![]()
Mum says: Dad and her won't help me because I'm under 17 and I'll need them to back me up. If I miss a payment they'd have to pay and 'they can't afford it' (sure seemed to pay for my brother's KX's rebuilt bottom end alright, and his new set of tyres and fuel to get to the MX track and entry fees and fuel for the bike....). I said I wouldn't miss a payment, but she said 'what if you break a leg and you can't keep the payments up?! (which is true but what about if they broke a leg? Would they be able to pay the bills? They don't worry about that...)
James bro, you are only 17 - thats the point
GO GET A JOB! you could have a fairly nice bike by the end of the year
i mean look at me, i'm only a year older than you - i left school last year instead of doing 7th form and here i am now owning a new bike that I can easily afford but dont have my license yet
edit: seriously, its there if you want it - just go get it and stop wasting time!
1990 Suzuki Bandit GSF 250 for sale 39k kms $3,500
How about a 400?
You selling LBTW?![]()
Keep it rubber-side down...
whats wrong with a 400 if your a decent rider youll atleast be able to keep quicker 600s in sight. and even if you did get a loan to get a newer bike how will you pay for tyres and fairings if you droped it, all well youre paying your loan back @ minumum payments? bugger that. im a 20yr old apprentice mechanic on shit wages, i got a rough nc30 for cheap (less then 3k) that had gone down, and spent a bita money on getting it sweet i did the clutch my self for $100 bucks + a service at the same time, youl have just as much fun on a 400 and youll be able to get in2 it and work on it yourself, learning more about your bike and saving money, you dont wanna pay someone else $65 a hour to work on a newer 600 cos your scared youll mess it up, and then scared to ride it hard coz if you dropped it youll be buggered, what ever you do dont get a loan, youve allready got more then most 17year olds.
If theres no cops.... Theres no speed limit....
Learn to dream, you may want a 600, I did at your age too. But instead i went for a 350 2-stroke and I could still keep up with the 750's.
If you need to get your parents to help then you will have to get them to want to help you. Look at it through their eyes would you help you?
Can your folks see that you have looked after your current bikes? if not can you get them up to a reasonable look to be able to sell them for a reasonable $? They must be able to see that you will look after your new purchase? They may also need to see that you can have enough investment in it as an incentive to protect it.
You want a 600 sports bike. They think you will break your leg on it because it is fast and you will fall off. A 600 will probably chew through more rubber and a tad more gas. As a parent my biggest concern would be the speeding fines you could pick up, which would hinder your ability to pay because if you break your leg then payments should be covered by insurance (if you took that out).
Would things be different of you asked for a DR 650 or similar? As far as your folks are concerned: You can go ride trails with your bro, they are easy to work on (lower costs), not as fast as a sprots bike, make an excellent commuter, lower insurance (i think?)... and a 101 other benefits over the sprots bike.
Now benefits for you: they are fun, acceleration is quite rapid, over 140kmph you loose your license, you can go more places than a sprots bike and be patient, if you work hard enough and spend smart enough you will have your dream bike.
