The definition of the sickness is briefly mentioned at the end of the article, which is typical of the media to neglect the facts. When one compares 'Maori sickness' with something such as 'Anorexia' it doesn't seem as rediculous as the article makes it out to be.

I am aware of one instance where a pakeha male used tapu land (specifically a burial ground) as easy access to a fishing spot out near Leigh. Local iwi warned and forbid him from doing so, however he ignored them and cotinued to use the land instead of going through an alternative path.

Eventually his subconcious (or something else) got the better of him, it started with dreams of a Maori-legend type creature attacking him in his sleep, and then he developed more severe physcological problems relating to axiety surrounding is actions and the supposed consequences (on a spiritual level I guess?).

Regardless, the offenders in this instance have all been handled accordingly and the particular offender admited his guilt in court.

As for the comments regarding the male inside the house discharging the firearm; In accordance with the firearms laws he has commited an offence and been charged. Simple.

I think you're right Swanny. I've been bad to maori's (telling them to get off their arses) for years and the strange thing is, my stuff keeps disappearing!

I feel an MDO coming on, I hate fishing, but the things we have to do, to get better, sometimes it can take a week to get over this sickness, funny it all seems to revolve around how the fishing is going.
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

This my neighbor, Nursultan Tuleiakbay. He is pain in my assholes. I get a window from a glass, he must get a window from a glass. I get a step, he must get a step. I get a clock-radio, he cannot afford. Great success!

Mate Maori - Kia ora tatou

Racism is a seditious form of expressing ones own insecurities. Taking the stereotypical view and mixing it with ignorance and arrogance will only close your mind further, you’ll become even more narrow and insecure.
To an outside culture think about how weird westerners can seem; we have people who put their faith into a positive mind positive confession culture of success magical powers of the mind, others beleive in a Jewish God with a Greek name who can openly communicate with them – they believe in curses and blessings and the power of an omnipotent being. Why rubbish the things of the Spirit realm when its expressed as a Maori concept - with out understanding it.
