    Blah Data Recovery Software

    Data Recovery Software:

    Any suggestions?

I was clever enough to delete my back-up on my 200GB external drive the other day and lost a lot of information.

Im currently scanning the drive with 'stellar phoenix 2.1' - which I have used in the past on customer computers.

Does anyone know of any better software for scanning and recovering deleted data on hard drives?

(if anyone wants a copy of this program PM me, also have crack to make it full version - PC)

    I've had success with GetDataBack.

Make sure you do NOT write anything to the drive untill you get a chance to recover your files.

Have had a bit of success with Search and Recover (vers 4). Sorry, can't compare it to Stellar Phoenix. Best of luck!

I tried a few of them with very little success, One program I used recovered most of my pics but nearly all of them were shagged.
Then I came across IRecover, What an awesome piece of software, Recovered an almost full 120 gig drive and I only lost two movies out of it, All my digital pics were fully recovered and at the end of the day the pics were all I was really worried about , the rest was just a bonus.

If you want to PM your email address I can send you a copy of it if you like?

Wininternals file restore is a great product but I only have it in the administrators pack which costs a bloody fortune.

Not sure what the cost of it now is as Microsoft have aquired wininternals

Goto 9Down.com and download Hiren's BootCD; there are some really good recovery apps on there that will completely rebuild the partition table and file indexes. So heres hoping you wont need to recover them to a different drive.

I lost 1.8TB of data a while back on a RAID5 Setup; and amazingly it managed to bring it all back (unfortunately just to loose it again )

Well after putting the drive in a windows pc and scanning it using about 3 diferent data recovery programs and many hours later... nothing. damit.

popped it back into the external drive case and re-connected back to my mac - downloaded the MAC version of stellar phoenix and bobs ya uncle! Taking forever to scan though, so fingers crossed....

I had over 12,000 songs and over 100 movies/clips stored on that thing!

Its not so much a recovery tool, but its a fantastic piece of software... backups, copying data to new drives etc. I couldn't live without it.
