Blah Kitten - Free to good home

Kitten no longer available... we found the owners!

On Saturday Sam found a kitten in our garden. Its not a baby kitten, but not yet a full grown cat. We "think" its a female and she's very very skinny, and when you stroke her you can feel all her bones...

Sam and I have totally fallen inlove with her... but unfortunatley because we live on Onewa Road we're too scared to keep her incase she gets squashed and neither of us can bring ourselves to keep her locked inside a 1 bedroom place day and night.

We asked all the nieghbors if they had lost a cat/kitten and no-one fronted up. Checked the bulliten board in the mall and still no luck.

The kitten is house trained, it knows how to use a kitty litter (pizza box with sand in it LOL), but it only goes to the toilet if you put it in the litter box and stand there watching it...

It also knows the sound of food. We brought it a box of kitten food and as soon as we took it out the shopping bag it heard the biscut things rattling inside and came running over meow'ing.

We're assuming it was once a pet of someone and either ran away or got lost and has been on its own for a week or more (cause its so skinny). We also got it a flea collar, which it hates lol

Anywho... its got a great character, it loves getting loved and stroked. Its not a very playful kitten, it doesn't chase after balls or string... and any sudden movements scare the shit out of it and it runs and hides in the shower.

I've got one person who "may" want it, but they can only let me know by the end of the week... and I don't really wanna leave it locked inside until then... If we don't find a home for it by the weekend we'll be taking it to the SPCA...

Oh... and whoever takes it will get naming rights lol, at the moment we're just calling it "kitten".

    Heres some pics...

Very cute! Good luck finding her a home, have you tried places other than the SPCA? I lost all the email addresses when my computer died last month, but there is the Cats Protection Society and also something like the Auckland Animal Rescue Shelter. Check the phone book or post a message on the Trade Me pets and animals message board as members regularly post there.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Wow, she did good getting from Windy Ridge to Onewa Road in one piece!!! Obviously a survivor!

Good on you for looking hard to find her owners - and well done!

Let's hope she actually wants to go home after having seemingly fallen in love with your fish tank! LOL

lol yeah... I kinda got all sad when I saw the picture of her on TradeMe... I was like "awww now we really have to give her up". Thats a long time for a cat to be missing nearly a whole month... no wonder she's so damn skinny...

Oh well, just waiting for the owner to phone me and organise to pick her up... at least they get about 2 weeks worth of free food and a flea collar

Yeah Juggler is a pain in the butt... lol

Well done on finding her owner...... that is good news.

Yeah she will...... with a few hugs and kisses...... and a good feed tonight.

    Wonder why she wandered away?
Had the owners moved recently and was 'Mimi' trying to find her way home again?
Had 'Mimi' jumped into a visitors or neighbours car un-noticed and managed to escape un-noticed.
The owners will have to keep a close eye on her for a few days....
Ol' wives tale and it does work: put butter on their paws... to teach it to stay home.

Dont give 'Mimi' any food tonight before they come to pick her up...
They wont want her to get carsick or poo everywhere in the car.

Send a paw to the owner, make them pay up for her!

Yeah that does work... put butter on her paws and lock her in a toilet/bathroom for about an hour. The cat then licks all the butter off its paws and therefor also licks off any scents left on the feet... makes it not wonder as much... I'll mention that to the owners when they contact me...

    *still hasn't heard from them*
