I must admit - I loved "The Gladiator", what a wicked movie.
But for hardcore full on brutal gladiator like action - This movie takes the cake......
300 is the story of the 300 Spartan warriors that faced an entire persian army.
Based on a true events.
Due out in New Zealand next month.

From what little I know, the actual event/s was on a beach and the Spartans fought not only extremely brutally and with great courage but also used great tactical knowledge to defeat a much larger army... (Yay - discovery channel)

It's the battle of Thermopylae, 300odd spartans with 700ish Thespians, at a narrow mountain pass. Though obviously Frank Miller went for entertainment over more historical evidense, and right he should. Have seen some of the graphic novel, it looked awesome. If you are after a good book about the same event in history then check out "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield.
But this movie looks so good, i've been forcing people to watch the trailer with me since December.
I might have built it up too much though - I hate it when I do that to movies
