i think it the brand cuz my dads 900 has the same rim and tyre size as me but his dont buldge like the shinkos so im thinking 150/70 diablos as mt eden have a special on at the moment 499 front and rear plus fittingAre they corsas or street tyres.Pirreli have several versions of similar tyre diablo strada ,diablo corsa, diablo supercorsa and diablo rosso etc so tell the shop your racing a lightweight bike on them so they understand why your buying the tyres. They may be able to match that price with more suited rubber.
Its the supercorsa you would want but do they make 110 front?Dont let them talk you into 120 if the front rim is less than 3.5inch.
Did you try price dunlop gpra10s as they do have 110 fronts from memory. They may be 50 extra dollars a set but try get the best deal and they may discount them.

What is the recommended size dude? Stick with the manufacturers size, they spent lots of time and money setting your bike up to be like it is. The sport demon are a decent tire but I found they lack a wee bit in lean angle.
I have just checked the tyre charts for 4inch rear and they back up the 150/70 as does hyosung. They just looked pinched in on that rim but that could be brand related.Surely its not and 3.5 or 3.75 rear rim?
There is not way you could get those tyres over to much further. If you got anymore than another 10mm off that chicken strip it would be over rover. The shapes not good.

It would be good idea to ask a senior racer to look at your suspension and tyre pressures etc at the track.Small alterations make large difference to handling.
If Robert Taylor is at the track at race day then he is the one to ask.He will have a quick look and give you advice worth listening too.

I think it is fair to say Chaosrider, that there is every chance your rear tyre is too big for you rim, be it factory fitted or not.
In all reality, the pace you where doing at Pukekohe (in the wet) is not really enough to cause "chatter" as long as everything else is "not too far wrong"
I can't imagine your shock is too far wrong (for your first time), it is new, maybe they do crap out quickly (so we all hear), but since it is just a basic shock, the fact that it doesn't have enough adjustments available to your so that it could be so badly set up that your tyre would look like that if it was the right size.
It would be prudent to ask someone at a reputable tyre shop what size is correct (for your rim, the size of it are stamped on the rim)
The balling you see on your tyre is most certainly NOT from " power sliding", it simply showing that your tyre is getting hot (and it would seem that the size of the tyre is too wide for it's application), so that is something to think about.
If the tyre profile is too big (high) the sidewalls move too much, creating heat in the carcass, and cause it to ball up like that.
Sorry Chaos, but you where not "sliding" your Hyosung last weekend, your inexperience fooled you into thinking you where, but I assure you, you would have to be going one hell of alot faster than you where to be doing that (as well as have 200% more power)
It may be hard to accept that Chaos, but mate, it is the truth.
Trust me, I Know.:msn-wink:

sports demons are great. (for me anyways =] im slow and noob)
My EX250J8 (or Ninja 250R 08) will hit 179 just before it bumps off the Rev limiter, I know its not actually 179, but thats not the point
Question?
when you passed them on the back straight, was it near where everyone was braking? cause passing them whilst they were in the que to go though the hairpin doesn't count. that was annoying >_>
Remember ages ago when we did the Northland loop with TOTO and about 30 odd other KBers. There was a long down hill straight. You were flat on the tank pinning it to catch up with the bigger bikes who boosted it down the hill.
I was behind you, slowly gaining, and had to back off a tad.
I've felt compelled to stay out of posting in this thread because im too nice.
Twin 250s, no, most 4 Stroke 250s = learner bike. So what's the fucking point

Word of warning, I'm running Diablos on the RF - i don't like the things. The rear has a nasty habit of letting go when you're leaned over. I've had a few nasty moments on them. Waiting for them to wear out (and get some $$) to replace them.
IMO - find a Hyosung forum in the net and find out what tyres people are running on track days and what they think of them.

I think the Hyo has the same problem as the RF - the suspension components were chosen by the accountants and are therefore (relatively) rubbish. It's nothing a big wad of cash and a Shaun Harris/Robert Taylor couldn't fix....
I wonder if Chaos would be better to flog the Hyo off and buy something like an SV650 which had already had the work done to it. Might be a cheaper way to get onto more competitve machinery sooner.

well thats what i was planning not keen on spending 600 for a set of tyres that could screw up the ride compleatly
well it sould be better then what i have dont you think plus i dont tend to lean that much yet so moving up(or down lol) slowly would be good especialy for $499 Try looking a the Pilot sporty I think they are a great tire for a smaller bike. Sport demons will be good for you to learn on, I didn't have any chicken strips on mine though and I wasn't going very fast, nor did the pegs ever touch the floor with them. As mossy said the gpr are good tires too. You may be better off paying a slight premium over the lesser brands.

I believe Chaos has a higher top speed than my bike. I have only taken mine up to 165km sitting at 11000rpm. It doesn't have much more speed to give unfortunatly. She's a nice learner bike tho, don't regret her as my first bike.
I did a flying 1/2 mile years ago on my RD350LC road bike. I got 179.9 Kmh out of it :Pokey: so close to 180 :headbang:. 45 rear wheel HP(was 39 but junked the standard restrictive air box and mucked around with jetting on my mates dyno and got 6 hp:clap:. Air box technology has come a loong way in 29years lol)
It is 149.5 kg in road trim on reserve (2 ltrs maybe) That was weighed at the kart track. I had a 17 front sprocket instead of the standard 16, the mirrors taken off and it is a Naked bike. Me with my gear on is 75kg. The speedo wasnt too far out saying 187ish. I left that gearing on it as ,it still wheel stands easy as.
Good old 2 strokes before Power Valves aye:niceone:
I have run a 120/80/18 rear on it and is crap. the standard sizing of 110/80/18 rear works much better and the tyre has a nice profile. Bigger is not always better

Yeh that a lower profile side wall which will help reduce sidewall flex.
60 series represents side wall percentage of tire width.70 series is touring profile.60 series is more race orientated as far as rear tyres go.
the 120 60 front will fit your 3inch rim also. Not sure what his reserve is but under 2hundy would be great value.

Just a note on the whole top speed thing, I'm sure it is a bit over and irrelevant to the real theme of this thread but I have to add my bit.
It is very likely chaos got his up to an indicated 178.
I had My GSX250 up to an indicated 190 in a sprint event, that was just over a real ton.
The RG150 indicated over 190 for a real top speed of under the ton.
A mates 636 indicated 290 and was going more like 260. This sort of error is very common.

13-3 Tyres
Only tyres on general sale to the general public in New Zealand as road legal fitment will be permitted.
Front and rear tyres fitted must conform to the tyre importers specifications for the homologated rim sizes that model.
Tyre warmers are not allowed.
I read that as being not the bike manufacturer recommended 150/70/17 but as tyre producers recommended fitment. So 140 or 150 on 4inch rear and 120 or 110 on 3inch front. If the rim sizes are not 3 and 4inch then this would change.

That gixer that went down in front of me at the hairpin, was spewing oil everywere, i went off the track on the outside off the hairpin and dumped my bike and pushed the leaking gixer off the track, and the marshalls didnt have a flag out lol. and still didnt even tho the rider was lying on the track and a huge oil slick . I was suposed to get in trouble with the officials for moving the bike, It didnt happen and i saw Mel after the meeting and he said it was common sense to move a bike that is pouring oil over the track. The hairpin was a mess with the oil down from the car on the friday test day anyway. I talked to one of the marshalls and they said they ran out of what ever they were cleaning up the oil with, was so much oil there.

work on grid starts so you can use your power against them...and then you'll be in front of them...then they'll have a bloody hard time trying to get past you. Just use your horse power where it matters you bike will never be as agile as a zxr400 ect

Mark Hay.Shame because he only just got it before round three and had even borrowed brakes etc from Paul to run it.It seemed to not go well in round three then they got it running properly for round four to have it spill its guts onto rear tyre and highside time.Bandaged arm and sore but didnt seem to bad.
They sent us out with clubmans to requalify and I decided to hang back and leave myself a hotlap gap then a super duke from clubmans went down and red flagged again during my hotlap,AGAIN hence the 22nd place.

The GSX250's are crap, slow big whales with shitty brakes.
The spada is the 250 twin too have.
GT250R's aint that bad, just a tad on the heavy side.

The spada is the 250 twin too have.

Id put money on a 250R being quicker than a GSX250 (thats GSX not GSXR).

I dunno Doug.
Certainly the Hyosung front was inspired by the MV, and the rest of the bike just doesn't blend with such an iconic style (the MV style I mean), but as far as full faired 250cc air cooled 4 strokes go, I recon it's got everything else beat. (style wise)
Not perfect, but I recon if I was a 15 year old with cash to spend on a new bike I would probably opt for the hyosung, based on the front end optics alone!
Certainly personal preference tho!

I suppose it comes down to a matter of taste, I personally find the 3ln fzr250rr and mc22 cbr250rr the best looking of the 250cc four strokes. But now that we say air cooled....argh  What else am I meant to compare it to these days? yes there has been much confusion but the pro twin's are for the 250 this round the 650 are also called "pro twins" but they are "protwin 650" i think.
i asked mark because the entry form only has pro twin, clubmans pre 89, post classic, Fa F1 F2 F3 and the 125 gp. so i called mark and he said its just pro twin, tick it and write 250 next to it.
i think they werent sure if enough people would turn up for the class so they left it open for 650 and 250

Stop sniffing that exaust Chaos.Your gunna end up dead.
No point sniffing a bike under no load parked up.
You would need to lean back and sniff it at 10tho revs doing 100clicks to measure the main jets with your nose. Then again at 6tho to get the needle height correct.
just ride it like you stole it and if its lean then it will get hot.
You should blast down the road.Shut it down and coast to stop and get correct spanner to check plug.Light tan colour is good.Black and oily looking is rich.White is lean or better still hit the old man up for a dyno run to check it on gas analyser.Tell him you strapped and its like insurance on the engine.

my dad isnt helping me financialy at all. when it comes to paying my deu's its up to me. and with the tyres and a new peg bracket im down 280. with 95 for the race and 160 for the next art day still to come getting a dyno is the least of my problems at the moment. im not broke just tight on budget. and i think practice is more important then dyno runs.

and hyosung= cant be fucked digging the plugs out+i dont have a plug spanner in the right size.
smelling exhaust feums is a non intrusive and sorta lazy way to check if all is wellSilly boy
Yes! Somebody intelligent
well i would think it would give you a really bad headache. all you do is sniff it.
you dont inhale it all day long lol:doobey::doobey::doobey::doobey:
edit. its a 4 stroke engine not a 4 toke engine Try sniffing this or being in the pits with this...you get all fucked up. I do the fuel settings and fuck it gets a bit interesting breathing in methanol all day

my dad isnt helping me financialy at all. when it comes to paying my deu's its up to me. and with the tyres and a new peg bracket im down 280. with 95 for the race and 160 for the next art day still to come getting a dyno is the least of my problems at the moment. im not broke just tight on budget. and i think practice is more important then dyno runs.
still need to sort out some race numbers and orange back plates.
Make them....
Dyno is important, that way you know if your bike will overheat and pop prematurely.

yeah its like do i strip of the fairings, tank, unbolt the radiater, and then find a way to get to them or do i unbolt the whole engine and drop it out under the chassis to get them out.
their both just as easy and both a pain in the ass:argh::girlfight::calm:

Over an extended period of time it will, I suspect you will notice less wear and carbon deposits in the engine therefore the engine will run in an efficient manner for a longer period of time over an air cooled motor  :zzzz:

Mount it upside down and make sure you have a fan blowing in the carb to increase the intake pressure and fuck with the venturi. :2thumbsup Oh and mix c16 gas in too, works great with 90w oil [I have some in my bmws lsd if that will help?]

no clue i dont have a speed indacator anymore. i would like to know what speed its really doing, im damn sure it does more then 160 (real speed)
i kept up and passed a few f3 class bikes down the straights so it was definatly faster then 140 cus they get up to 180-200 and i kept up all the way to the hairpin then passed them when they started braking. ive noticed im a very late braker:blink:

I think you'll find on a dry track the f3's will ( no offence intended ) destroy you for speed and cornering, also, GET RID OF THE FUCKIN SHINKO'S man, you know they are poo's, do a burnout and get rid of them, you'll be twice as fast.
