I am on one of my periodic Velvets kicks. This is the best song ever written (today's version anyway). I think apart from the very obscure lyrics (S & M? wife bashing?) what I love is the rhythm section just driving along. People diss Moe Tucker's drumming but I think she is absolutely brilliant.

That band is awesome. Buddy Miller (stg right is a really gifted songwriter in his own right: I've a couple of his albums, and his wife is June Miller: also a singer songwriter). The drummer is a guy called Brady Blades who is a jazz drummer moonlighting. He was hilarious live.

Not sure if I have posted here about THE KILLS before.

A two piece transAtlantic outfit. Jamie Hince and Alison Mossheart. They've been going for a while (in between other projects) and they stand out for me for her vocals (and the whole Lee Hazelwood Nancy Sinatra vocal vibe they sometimes have) plus some great lyrics (you have to love a song called "Fuck The People" amirite?)

Four studio albums, some live shows blahdeblah. If you remember a project of Jack White's from a few years ago, called THE DEAD WEATHER (their first album, HOREHOUND is excellent) Alison was in that. We saw them at the Powerstation and it was a great rock and roll show.
