are you kidding? it was fucking awful. I am no SOAD fan (I particularly dislike Serj Tankian's lyrics, and vocal delivery) but that aside ( and he does consciously ape Saint Jello's vocal style) that version is a version for 14 year old suburban kids who have never heard the original. it is far too jolly and bouncy and way way too self consciously them going "Yeah, we're cool and credible and relevant, see us busting out a DK's cover". It is AWFUL. They are so smug.

Hey Unstuck thanks for the steeler utube but think it may be the american Steeler not the one with Rudi Axel Pell?? As below

1. German: Steeler was founded in 1981 in Bochum. The band was originally formed with members Peter Burtz on vocals, Axel Rudi Pell on guitar, Tom Eder also on guitar, Volker Krawczak on bass and Jan Yildiral on drums. The band released two albums with this lineup, one a self titled album (Steeler) and the other titled ‘Rulin’ the Earth’. After the first two albums Krawczak was replaced by Roland Hag, this new lineup released two more albums. The first was named ‘Strike Back’ and the other ‘Undercover Animal’. After this the band split up.
Discography:
Steeler (1984)
Rulin’ the earth (1985)
Strike Back (1986)
Undecover Animal (1988)

2. American: Steeler was an early 1980 heavy metal band. They started with members Ron Keel on vocals and guitar, Michael Dunigan on lead guitar, Tim Morrison on bass and Bobby Eva on drums. They released a 45rpm vinyl single (Cold Day in Hell)
After a while Bobby Eva left the band and was replaced by Mark Edwards.
After that Michael Dunigan and Tim Morrison left the band and were replaced by Rik Fox (bass) and an 18 year old guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. This line-up released the Steeler’s first album (Steeler).
The final line-up:
Ron Keel - vocals and guitar, Kurt Jaymes - lead guitar, Greg Chaisson - bass
Bobby Marks - drums
This line-up didn’t release albums or singles.
After a long time Keel produced a compilation album with songs from the single, live show bootlegs, album and unreleased tracks. This album was released in 2005 (Metal Generation: The Steeler Anthology)

Thanks for the bling - if you can get a copy of the doco movie "searching for Rodriguez" do so - fascinating story and he sold truckloads in south Africa even though a nobody hobo ripped off person from Detroit. Its all about a couple of South Africans finding him - they all thought he was dead. brilliant movie and an award winner I believe?

Yeah, I think its shit. Like the latest Metallica stuff. Dave is such a douche. but then so is Lars. Not so much Hefield.

I dont really like Megadeth that much even when they were good. I think its just the whole chip on his shoulder "I got kicked out of Metlika so I will do wht they do but louder and more shrill" His voice is shot to hell too.

My metal listening these days is pretty much limited to the classics and Mastodon and Beastwars from sunny Wellington. I am going to give Animals as Leaders and Parkway Drive a listen too: a friend of mine really rates them

Check out some Wolfpac if you can find any, Some of the original members of Bloodhound Gang, who left the band early on. Bloodhound Gang never really got too famous because of their sexually explicit content, people were just to nervous about adding them to the bill.
