Hell No, my whale wouldn't fit on a trailer......That'd be the boss coming back from the winch challenge in Reefton.Apparently the track we were on up the Waitahu river can exit through a quary between Reefton and Springs junction, little bike country though, and there's a good track on the right heading into Big river, not far past the one lane bridge with the loading bank on the right, past merrijigs though.
Further exploration needed I think. On the CT

Yeah Dino feels good to finaly have things underway, just itchin to fire the old girl up and finish off the MT21

Bloody nice :scooter: mate brings a :crybaby: to my eye just looking at your picture of the beast.
Just knew I should have bought her back off the insurance mongrels.
Makes me  when you pay big premiums to them and excesses to only get what they think your bikes worth.
Should have :bash: a bit harder for her.
They've got a bit of a CULT following in the UK and they're fetching bigger money than here, OH well to the hills on my Cagiva I shall ride.

yeah mate shame you couldnt hold on to her, but rather the bike a right off than you thats the main thing ,no doubt youl be still having fun on the cagiva.

its a shame the insurance only go by market value, mines insured for 5k but i'l be lucky to see 2k if the worst happen to the ole girl.
some dude offered me 6k not long after i bought it so there still worth a bit to certain people but like you say europes the market place for them.

Pistons can be made to order, pretty much any dimension you want. They are generally forged so are noisy when cold but bloody strong, so availability is no real concern.

Nudging 80,000.
I've only done about 12,000 of those, oil and filters change every 5000,valve clearances at the same time. Was having some fuelling "issues" but new needles, tubes, floats seem to have fixed that, but the damage had already been done I think.

God it never ends....... maybe I should retire it

Inlet valves were also toast, I guess it was a symptom of the worn rockers.

Arias pistons or Ross pistons. Check them out . Arias seem to do more bike stuff. They have pdf forms for you to put the specs you want e.g. compression height bore size etc. Also a lot of really good guff about piston design/terminoligy if you are interested.

seems the 800 has the same 105mm bore just has a different crank and longer stroke, according to Mr Hessler.

Depends how they did it. The conrod may be the same as the 750 and the piston compression height is lower to compensate for the extra stroke, therefore the barrels may be the same.

Or the conrod is longer than the 750 and the piston ch is the same which would mean a different height barrell.

Or the conrod is longer than 750 and the ch is lower which could still point at the same barrell being used.

Oh I dunno.

Had an issue myself on Wednesday mate, went to head out and do the Whanga Rd and a cop was standing in the middle of the road after the Douglas saddle directing me towards Puniwhakau (road closed Targa rally) bugger I thought what if the gate is shut at Aotuhia I'll have to turn around, I didnt have to worry didnt get that far.
Came round a corner on the Aotuhia Station rd and heard a thawk thawk from the rear tyre, I pulled over and heard a heart breaking sound ppssssshhhh !!! shit there in the tyre was a black handle screwdriver that had been on the road for years and now it was in my E09. Pulled out the puncture repair in a can and started pumping it in  it was coming out faster than it could go in the tube was rooted:no:
I started to push the big to try and get the shit to seal slipped on some gravel and she fell away from me, bang down it went tank full as buggery I ran around and picked it up like a bag of tissue paper(the Adrenalin must have been pumpin).Parked it up and pulled out the spare tube and toolkit:doh: no tyre levers they were back in the shed.I sat down on the grass and had a smoke. What to do no houses for several ks were I'd come from so thought I'd carry on, I did 7 ks on the flat tyre still on the bead came round a corner and there was a house over in a paddock with a guy standing on the front lawn(he heard me)gidday I said, hows it mate he said, got any tyre levers mate, yeah mate come in.Bloody nice guy Tim's his name, fixed the tyre and turned back for home as by now it was pretty late.Got home and was showing the mrs the hole in the tyre and the screw driver and there was a nail stick in one of the knobs( I dont think god liked me that day) first time the DR has had a flat tyre in over 100,000k's at least it was a nice sunny day.

so is the tyre fooked.

heres me wounds.

KTM dropped last weekend twice, each side....So, I had to do it to even up the scratch on the right by dropping the left......
Water, slippery rocks, MT90's and a video camera didn't help....
:crybaby:
I spent $260 getting her nice and shiney, now we are back to a war wounded beast but she still works well and at the end of the day Dino.....Don't forget mate, it's just Aesthetics.....looks and paint, but it sure makes you hurt inside aye....:gob:

She deserves to be ridden like you stole her Dino...
You look after her, she will behave, give her a taste of the great outdoors, the bike was meant to be ridden....hard! Within your limits of course...
I tried this early on, now I am finding the real potential of the KTM....

actually looking at down sizing, need something i can throw around and not really give a shit about dropping it if you know what i mean, i dont mean to sound like a rough cunt who dont look after his ride. But i use to have a shit load more fun on my 500 and 650, dont get me wrong i love my BIG, but i need that fun factor aswell, and i cant afford two bikes, so im looking at parting with the mighty one. Its not the bikes fault its more my lack of willingness( and skill:shutup:) to throw the BIG around.

I know where you could get an older generation one. Already converted for ADV duties (fairly sure there's some of the fairing pieces left). It's funny, all of the previous scratches and scrapes have all be done by previous owners or first gear falls or blah blah....
Come on all, admit that you rode it like you stole it and it was dropped at least three times on the Fishers track or Whanga Rd...Or the Molesworth...

Well mine definitely aint no mint commuter bike that's just been w@nked on in the shed every weekend that's for sure LOL! Its an adv bike and that's what its been used for and I'm glad I did as its been a really fun bike and has the character scratches to prove it, which is why its $7k and not $8k LOL!
The plastics have a fair few scratches, although the tank is in bloody mint condition - can't believe I have never dented it or put a serious scratch on it! Go figure!
And its mechanically spot on and that's whats important for an adv bike; plus its still got over 14 months bloody warranty on it anyway!
I've dropped it, crashed it & flipped it offroad, and it still is in great shape and never missed a beat - but heh its a DR and that's why they are great bikes, bloody bomb proof!

Funnily enough I was thinking the other day, she aint bucked me off since Easter Sunday when i hurt my back, not even on 3 trips to Odlins Rd! (maybe she loves me too LOL! yeah the big turned me into a bit of a nana compared to my last couple of bikes, not sure why, i think the big just demands a little more respect, kinda found it intimadating at first but once you get past the size of the tank shes not that much more heavier than the 650s. a bit like going from a slapper to a real woman she just needs a little more respect  but you still can f@#k her all the same :innocent:

Put on the DR as a result of a nasty fall....really nasty....:shit:
Fell over in my garage onto a concrete floor, landed right on the end of the bar. Pushed it up and forward, hence new bars....
I got some Sunlines, apparently as good if not better then Renthal.
Had to drill holes to attach switch blocks as the old bars had these recesses in them.
It is looking good.
I have also had the rear wheel re laced, nice job done, it is looking smart and shiney. Geez, the brakes are expensive! for old drum variety...
Had to go OEM unfortunately....
Two new Heidenaus K60 to go onto the bike, new chain and sprocket set. Barkbusters next week and this tourist is ready for whatever the South can throw at him! :sunny:

I will post a couple of photos soon as it is all done....

But, after 21 years, it hasn't done anything too bad, so maybe it will be okay.
Anyway, the switch blocks would eventually come loose and I didn't want to risk loose blocks etc and over tightening screws...
If it weakens the bar? I am not going to put that amount of stresses on it, I hope...

Just put a headlight skin on it. Just sticks on and absorbs the shock of any stone hits. You could do about 4 headlights with the normal car sized pack.
