C'mon what did you do...?:sweatdrop

RE the mirror, not so funny thing was after I tightened her up I nicked another one around the side of lake forsythe but this time the mirror stayed put. Might need a eyeball recalibration.:dodge:

Incidentally if anyone has a nice set of black rectangular mirrors for sale to fit honda handlebar mount plse PM me.

Sounds like you would be better off with a pair of heavy gauge steel ones...:Pokey::clap:

Well I had a great ride on Wednesday. It was a bit windy in places but no problems. It was also great to see so many at the pub afterwards. The mighty steed is due for a WOF this week and I just dont have the time to take it in at the moment. If I can get it done I will tag along next week. Where we going?

Check the plugs, ignition system etc. A weak spark will stop an engine revving.

Is the pipe standard? An aftermarket pipe with no fueling mods can cause problems...

Does it rev out in neutral, if it is only under load it that it falls short it may give a few more clues.

Good luck!

hey mate, my bike revs out in neutral, what would that narrow the problem down to do you think?

El Stevo
18th January 2009, 16:34
Hmmm, possibly weak spark or fuel leaning out.

Check the plugs are clean and correctly gapped for starters. Dirty air filters can cause problems also but you've checked that already I believe. If the plugs are good then possibly gunk in the carbs or incorrect float levels.

I must add I am not a mechanic but have picked up a few things playing with cars and bikes over the years. - This is an invite for mechanics to give SLTaylor69 some free qualified advice:D

Engines use more fuel/air under load and need a decent spark to ignite it. I'm not thinking timing at the moment as most CDI ignitions don't have problems with that.

After having injected bikes I have learnt how evil carbs can be.:devil2: It could be as simple as the carbs needing balancing.

I think you'll have to play trial and error for starters but at least you can start eliminating things one by one.:)

I hope this is of some help...

Greta Valley Via Weka Pass and Scargill

Destination: Belfast, after that I don't care what you do (Actually I do, you know that)

170km Ride.

Re-Group points:
Across the road from the fruit ice cream place, NORTH PEOPLE MEET HERE (http://maps.google.co.nz/?ie=UTF8&ll=-43.435887,172.651895&spn=0.002902,0.004807&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=-43.435967,172.65195&panoid=Ebe2ImQReVQwDc1YNUVq0w&cbp=12,301.8811800542003,,0,15.34908380442803)
Weka Pass (Just in from SH1, other side of the railway tracks, if someone could stop on the turn off that'd be great)
Greta Valley Pub
Amberly

It's up the main drag until weka pass, which in my opinion is some of the best tar in Canterbury, then we turn off at waikari and head along Scargill Valley road, be aware of shingle on some corners, farm machinery and livestock, make sure you toot as you pass Subikes place, then we'll stop at the pub for a refreshing drink, chips etc and it's home via the main drag.

This is quite a long ride so we'll be leaving at 6:30 sharp, north people please be ready at 6:50 across from the fruity ice creamy place...

I have spoken to the short order cook at the Greta Bar,
To make sure there is someone there to cook you some chips!
They are expecting between 10 and 30 of us arrive between 7.30 and 8pm.
So the more of you all that come the better,
I should be waiting to join up with you at the Waikari turn off, :scooter:
so no disturbing my goat with your noisey horns!!:bash:
Road gangs are in the area at the moment repairing small sections of the road on the main roads, so be aware of little unmarked new seal spots.
If it looks light grey, then it will be new with loose metal on top, beware.
So see you all on the road

Sounds like you lot have been having a fine old time while I have been slogging it out across the ditch in OhZee land. Now sitting at airport and been told the plane will be an hour late

Well I hope someone fed the sharks between here and there, because if it was delayed due to mechanical problems, it's a lot harder to push a plane than a motorcycle. i might have to go with the fast crew next week as my bike/speed lust will be rampant :scooter:

I had a great ride on Wednesday. It was very nice to get out on the open road and not feel I was holding up anybody. I had to shoot off early to pick up the boss from work, would have liked to stay a bit longer at the pub.

Ok, so it's time we followed the Duvauchelles crew back to Duvauchelles.

We still expect those guys to leave earlier so we can sort out the rest of the group though.

Check out route 3 on this (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1823496&postcount=521) post.

This is a reasonable distance and incoporates some fast straights as well as some awesome twisty bits. For those not keen to go all the way they can bail out at Little River, but please tell someone you're going so we're not all wondering "where did that guy go?"

Woop woop about a month and $800 later and the bike's going again! 800k run in period though, not taking it over 7500 is less than fun especially with all the new grunt it has. But we shall overcome.

I'll be Wednesday with bells on though actually coming on the full ride is debatable. Depends how much I've gotten through it I guess.

Dave while you're at it could you pick me up one of those RC8 thingamajigs? Don't have the money to pay you back, though I can give you a 1998 RG150 in top condition*

I'll just relay you the worksheet - you can work it out haha. Might be able clarify or expand on some things but yeah just ask away.

Stuff:
- New piston
- New rings
- Circlips
- Base gasket
- Powervalve gasket
- Exhaust gasket
- Coolant
- Spark plug
- Spark plug cap
- Rebore
- Gearbox oil

It appears, and we're unsure on this so don't quote me etc, that a circlip was fitted incorrectly last time and that the piston has rooted itself pretty well over time. Have the old piston sitting around now. Makes a good paperweight!

And much credit to Duane and Adrian, really helpful, really clear - I'm well impressed. Will be back there for sure!

where are we going this week do I hear you ask?

it's a big sloppy, slippery, damp root....wets' route to be exact, I can't vouche for how good wets route is as I have never been for a ride.

...never hear the end of that one

Wets' Route

Wets' route takes us up dyers pass, along most of the summit road, be careful this is a challenging slow road with some patches of shingle and rubbish surface - take it easy and you'll be fine. We then drop down into and through lyttelton around the bays, the roadworks signs have been removed but the surface after govenors bay is still pretty slushy. We'll stop at the Wheatsheaf for refreshment, then after that you can flick over gebbies or back your own way (personally i'll be doing gebbies pass)

Re-group points:

Sign of the Kiwi, on the right at the top of Dyers Pass
Top of evans pass before lyttelton
Wheatsheaf Tavern

I will remind you this is a tough ride, I believe Jmemonic and Phoenix wont be along this week, Fireliv has asked to take up TEC.

Dave, you're gonna have to slow down so the girls can catch up :)

haha, they can keep up ;)

right lets do this!

Diamond harbour must be back on the cards, although it might be preferable to skip godly house and flick over to port levy (good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye) for a breather then head back to the wheatsheaf?

it'll look something like this:

Port Levy via Dyers Pass

Diamond Harbour + some!

re grouping:
1. Govenors Bay, on the left after coming off Dyers Pass road.
2. Outside the cafe in diamond harbour (it's closed by the time we go passed)
3. Port Levy dock
4. Wheatsheaf Tavern

Google Map (http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=347+Moorhouse+Ave,+Christchurch,+Canterbury+ 8011+(Burger+King)&daddr=Puari+Rd+to:-43.668337,172.660704&hl=en&geocode=%3BFbr7Zf0dbkhNCg%3B&mra=dme&mrcr=1&mrsp=2&sz=15&sll=-43.669362,172.662206&sspn=0.023126,0.038452&ie=UTF8&ll=-43.611471,172.741127&spn=0.18519,0.307617&z=12)

Hey does anyone know what the deal is with the sheltered bike park on Hereford St, between Colombo and Oxford?
I see bikes using it all the time when I'm in town, but I don't know whether to use it as it has "private" signs all over it. If it's open it'd definitely be easier than coping with the piss poor parking by others in the open spots around the same area.

Should have the last 226 kms done by next Wednesday, but Uni's kicking in so still room for change.

McWild I suspect you are talking about where i work down on 91 hereford street (see included pic). Unfortunately they are employee only parks. Dont park there unless you work there, my employer is very keen on removing bikes that are not registered in their database that park there. :scooter:

Hi guys, what an awesome ride. You all rock. :headbang:

Thanks Tris for saving me multiple times when i couldnt figure out my bearings. I have a terrible sense of direction. I could get lost in a one way tunnel. :2thumbsup

It was very entertaining ride, I started by trying to keep up with Tris in the DR, was doing alright until i hit the hills at the beginning of Gebbies Pass, then Helen passed me (not a hope trying to follow a Ducati in my lil VL, especially one ridden by Helen:rolleyes:), then MTW passed me (nice to meet you for the first time Mark). Then i lost sight of all three of you on the down hill.

Then surprise of my life i get passed by Jmemonic (something about these Ducatis) down the straights after the bar. Of course I waved but his excuse was he needed two hands for the next corner  just kidding, it was great to see you.

Yeah I know I park there all the time, I've just seen a ton of bikes parked in that aforemention private place and so thought if there was a sheltered park that was free to use I might as well use it.
Believe me, I've had a few colourful conversations (from their side) about the meaning of the little motorcycle diagram before when it's been busy.
The other thing is the scooters that park at awkward angles, or park so far to the right that you need to go way out onto the road to back back in.

Yes Dangerous it is because of the accidents.

Those senior riders of the group held a get together and discussed what we could do to make the ride safe and enjoyable. Making the duvouchelle riders seperate & having a leader and TEC were two of the things to come out of it. As you were not included in this group decision I guess you may not have known.

I dont care what you think this ride should be called, but at least its a step to making it safer for all. Also there are other ride options out there so if someone doesnt like it then don't come. Simple enough

im more than happy to stay behind the leader.its the same formula on the ATNR.

if the leader chooses to do significantly less than the speed limit at any given stretch, unless theres a hazard or whatever, that is the only time any one should have a problem IMHO

if ya wanna speed, theres a few options.

Go to duvauchelle with the "fast crew"or whatever they call themselves

go to a trackday

go ride alone

its a group ride after all,and riding on one means abiding with the group rules.

after the first two rides in went on,a couple of mates who came with me vowed never to come back, after those "back to back"incidents.

personally i prefer the alternative, even if it is less exciting.that kind of drama i can do without.:done:

Making???!!!

I think you will find that the ones that go to Duvoucelles do so from their own choice, do they really pick you as being ones to follow orders?

I don't care how safe you guys think it makes it, follow the leader is GAY! If people wanna boogie and can pass safely I don't see the problem. It's a ride not a funeral procession. If new riders are led to believe that this is normal they will be bored off riding pretty fast.

Food for thought: if the leader doesn't like getting passed then get a faster leader. It's hardly rocket science...

It really eats me how some self appointed 'heros' wanna play the big man and feel they can be in charge of other people, but not as much as the lemmings that let themselves be bossed around. You shouldn't need rules only a little common sense and a little consideration. Whats next? Reg and WOF checks before each ride to make sure the bikes are safe? - Give people some credit.

If being passed offends any of you - FFS get over it! It's gonna happen from time to time be it on bikes or in cars, it's not done to deliberatly insult you and if you think that way you should see a shrink!

That's my 2 cents worth, like it or not!

Steve, people weren't passing the leader like you're making out. We stopped outside the Wheatsheaf and were there for all of 5 minutes when part of the group decided they wanted to carry on. The reason we have re-group points is so that we can make sure everyone gets there ok. Not everyone was there. In saying that I wasn't concerned about the situation on Weds (I didn't think anyone actually was), but D had to bring it up

By the way, who was sending the PM's telling people off? I'm sure they weren't that serious

Helen and Lil'M broke loose at a prearranged stop accelerating away in a whellied cloud of smoke, they knew they should wait for the TEC and not pass me (the leader) and as such we're sent the following PM.

ok what's up?

why the short stop?

Lemans and The hornet were also involved and will be receiving similar punishment.

what's worse is they did this in front of vulnerable impressionable new riders who followed suit.

they then sped at maniacal speeds to lyttelton where they blatantly flouted another stop, this time skipping the whole ordeal completely, then stopped at a non approved stop on the other side of evans pass.

such behavior is unacceptable on my ride as such the members have been asked to touch their toes, thanks for the suggestion steve, we'll be adding scrutineering to the BK car park schedule by the end of feb.

if I ever see anyone having fun on this ride again...fuckin' better watch out.

BUT, BUT, I was just following those Bad Hairy Arsed Bikers Birds and thought that If I did not leave when they did, those two bad girls would give me the bash.

To be honest I did meet up (to catch up with people I had not seen of awhile) with the group at the start and then did my own ride to de-stress over the Summit Road.

As I do not like ride in unknown groups since I got rear ended on a group ride (Ambo fund raiser).

I did do a U turn and rode TEC to the Wheatsheaf to see how the group rode and only stopped to help out a fellow rider that was having trouble with his lines though corners or I would not of stopped.

When the girls started their bike a lot of people did and got a miss que to leave.
Shit happens.

I did the last (middle) part of the ride so that as it turned out two guys could follow me before heading off again to do my own ride again.

By the way the guys lines seemed to have got better and with that their speed got better as well.
Well done boys.:niceone:

And El Stevo the point of a leader is to ride at a pace keep the group together.
And you have done this on a Sunday ride where you lead and did not go over 100kph once.

If you have the fastest guy up front, riding fast, the group will split.
This WNR as far as I know is for learners to learn to ride better or a quite Cruise for the rest so the group wants to ride together.

And that is why your group leave first, so you can do what the hell you like.
You do not like it, don't do the ride.

It is strange to me is, if you think it is so GAY to ride like that you have to meet and start your ride from the same place.
Now that is GAY.:Pokey:

No one is trying to stop you 'not ride as a group' so please don't mess up the organising of others who do want to ride as a group.
No lack of spine involved, don't know where you get that shit from.

I believe thats 4 cents now :DForget the playing instructor issues, some new and old riders just want to ride as a group from time to time.
Group riding - riding in a group, not leaving together as a group and arriving spread out over the next half hour at the one destination... if you haven't got lost because you couldn't keep up and no one slowed to show you the way or crashed out because you were drawn past your ability trying to keep up so as not to get lost because you're new and have know idea where you are.
Don't think egos have anything to do with group riding, more likely they prevent it.

Perhaps those who took off early from the regroup should have announced their intent to break away so those who followed knew what was going on, that they were leaving the 'group ride' to do their own thing.

Apologies for only quoting El Stevo. It's all just generalization anyway ain't it.
I'll call this my 1c worth, it's only half a mind, I feel this and the rest will just fall on deaf ears, or be brushed off by narrow minded people anyway so I'll just crawl quietly back into my hole now.

Steve I dont have a problem with you but I take real offense to this. We have already discussed why the duvochelle crew go seperate, as we know you can look after yourself. But from my point of view you guys are not on the wed ride, you just happen to be on a ride.

Personally I find it weird as you were leader a couple of times last season of WNR and you never complained about it to me.

I dont see myself as bossing others around. If people dont like it dont come. This ride was started as an organised ride, and just like any organised ride that anyone has been on it has rules. Those self appointed "Heros" are trying to make it safer for everyone, and I am trying to keep it that way as I have seen the legal ramifications a death on a percieved organised ride can mean.

Basicly steve keep doing what you are doing and leave us to do this how it is seen the safest.

That comment alone is very 'bossy'

The ride started of as a slow ride, but as shit happens ya get dick heads fuking it up.
It has turned into more of a 'learners' ride now and this is a good thing aye. such a group is needed in some cases. However you and other suposed leaders need to rememberyou to are learners and again this is a good thing as you all are in the same boat.
I think you DO need to rename the ride to being a learners group... so as to keep faster beter riders out and NOT have bad people like LilM and HOT doing wrong.

The WNR can be made a very good steeping stone for 'new' learners remember we are always all learning every time we ride, but your group can be a good introduction... keep it up but under your "RULES" expect some flack.

BTW I am often on and sorting organised rides and we NEVER have rules, so why do you need them if the point is made its a newbee group?

Well at this stage nothing is changing. So say what you like. For fear of repeating myself DONT LIKE HOW ITS BEING RUN DONT COME. There are plenty of people who are happy with it esp now the changes have happened and thats going to continue.

I might be a "learner" rider (everyone still has something to learn right? U included), and I dont claim to be anything other than that. However its just damned if we do, damned if we dont.

As for the name I dont care. Lots of people come along who are not newbies. So what does it matter?

As for people riding ahead of the leader, as long as the leader knows then it shouldnt be a prob. However if they bin it then they shouldnt bother posting it on this thread, or saying they were on the WNR as they left the group.

We got bitched about when there wasnt solid organising and people didn't know where where we were going, and people like you dangerous said that the ride was unsafe. We implement some structure and now you say its to ridged. Well don't come. Simple as that. You just brought this up to shit stir, you have had your fun, so just leave it at that.

na, come on... Stevo has some good points, but thats only and only cos the rides advertised as a all in relaxed ride.
The problem is everyone has a different opion of what relaxed is... so, IMHO to avoid any confusion it should be promoted as a newbes ride, after all thay are who the leaders are aiming the ride at, and it seems anyone with more knolage/abilty and or horse power is frowned upon.

Dave did get a bit carried away with his actions (reguarding the crazy girls and their followers Lemans) specially when he was seen along with two others nailing it, which is all fine but when ya have riders like HOT and LilM whom have the ability to ride quicker, you cant expect them to over heat behind a zxr250.

Hi 3umph (I just got your name, fuckin' classic dude) that's how we use to organise the ride, but the Duvachelle group said they preferred to do Duvachelle each week anyway, they didn't fancy the ride over evans (too much traffic through sumner) tunnel was the same, the road to diamond harbour at the time was under construction, greta and Ashley gorge were too long and straight so they said they'd just do Duvachelle.

within the "normal" group it's generally expected that the faster riders go to the front, but even the faster riders in this group really aren't that much faster.

Should have the last 226 kms done by next Wednesday, but Uni's kicking in so still room for change.

great parking for those that work there, but after getting my last bike scratched and moved without permission i no longer park there, even tho i can :)

Suggestion- let the fast crew do there thing. For the slower -newer riders, find out who they are - whom ever is organising the ride when you are at BK walk around and introduce yourself- find out there skill level and offer a mentor for the ride. Some newer riders dont know anyone and dont know who to ask. Make up a list of riders and get ph numbers, incase you want to go for rides at other times during the week. Hope you all ride safe and enjoy your rides. Hope to tag along soon.

Yeah when I saw the plate (and i would like to buy from who has it) I liked it to...

Going to one destination week in week out... how fu#*&n boring even if it is balls out...

There is no such thing as common sense.

offer some tuition and help to the newer rides etc, oh its to fucking hard isnt it.

1) Thanks for showing how you feel about the people you ride with - this goes some way to explain why you treat them like children.

2) You don't listen do you? I will not give advice to strangers, I am not a riding instructor nor do I have any intension of pretending to be one. I enjoy riding, that is why I do it.

These Wed rides used to be relaxed and enjoyable, a couple of one off acco's happen and a few take it apon them selves to take knee jerk reactions and impose a whole lot of rules on others.

A few (i.e. myself and a few others) can't be arsed with them and break off on our own ride and now it is implied that we are 'racing' and 'dangerous' and only fast people should come with us.

Well lets clear something up. The Duovocells ride is very much still a product of the wed ride, it was formed by people that don't want to put up with the bullshit that has tainted the 'main' ride. Anyone can join us, it is not for the fast and stupid as you seem to believe, it is mearly an alternative for like minded people irrelevant of what you ride or how you ride it.

And for the record - I am long passed caring what you or any others think of me, I don't plan on changing for anyone. I am who I am, love me, hate me or somewhere in between, I don't really care either way. :done::niceone:

i totally agree.im lucky i live on banks peninsula,i get to ride the hills every day.

i get kinda bored with the ride to duvauchelle even though its a great road.i do it from time to time, usually end up in Akaroa.

I enjoy the wednesday rides mainly for the chat and catching up with friends, dont really care where we go.

i would draw the line at ashburton though:sick:

Dangerous - I don't know what you've been told, but I already said what happened on Weds, as has Rik and others. It had nothing to do with anyone getting bored behind Dave.

As for it being a newbie ride, sure thats part of the reason these rides started, but they were also (and more predominantly) started for the social aspect. You don't have to be a learner to want to go for a ride and chat with like minded people.

Steve - Myself, Liv and others have said that we have no problem with what you do. Go off to Duvauchelles every week, thats cool. But you chose to split because you didn't like the way things have changed, so stop trying to piss all over what we're doing. And for the record, alot of people are happy with the way things have been changed.

1) Thanks for showing how you feel about the people you ride with - this goes some way to explain why you treat them like children.

Do I treat them like children, hmm no one else has complained, and attitudes have shown in the past that common sense is uncommon, these are a semi organised ride, with set routes and regroup points, what is is you object to so badly?

2) You don't listen do you? I will not give advice to strangers, I am not a riding instructor nor do I have any intension of pretending to be one. I enjoy riding, that is why I do it.

Nope have got that loud and clear hence my post, I feel you would have a lot to offer, you decry those who are willing to assist why?

These Wed rides used to be relaxed and enjoyable, a couple of one off acco's happen and a few take it apon them selves to take knee jerk reactions and impose a whole lot of rules on others.

Actually the rules were mostly in place to start with, just they are a little more formalised now they are simple, we have a leader who is responsible for setting the pace (if we followed the ideas in the road code that would actually be the least experienced rider), and ensuring that we all meet at the regroup points, and a set TEC, these are announce at the start of the ride, what is so difficult about that?

Just for the record had we done WOF checks as you implied will be the next thing, (and for the record as far as I know this idea has not been proposed), one of those accidents may not have occurred, hence my disbelief in common sense, that bike should not have been on the road.

A few (i.e. myself and a few others) can't be arsed with them and break off on our own ride and now it is implied that we are 'racing' and 'dangerous' and only fast people should come with us.

Where have I or any of the others said that you are racing and dangerous? I have said at the start of a ride that Duvauchelle's will likely be a faster ride but in no way implied or stated dangerous

And an alternative is as far as I understand it what it has been considered, see above for my comments on fast and stupid

And for the record - I am long passed caring what you or any others think of me, I don't plan on changing for anyone. I am who I am, love me, hate me or somewhere in between, I don't really care either way. :done::niceone:

No one that I can see is really asking you to, personally I don't give a flying what anyone thinks of me, the only reason I have stepped up and been the herald for these nights is because when the folks who originally proposed them attempted to speak no bastard would shut up and listen, I have a loud voice, so I used it, I however am approachable and willing to chat, take on board ideas etc.

You seem to have this idea that some folks are trying to curb your enjoyment, this is not the case, we are trying to make this fun for all and slightly safer, if you don't object to that and have other ideas on how this can be achieved put it forward.

na, come on...

Come on D you know that the horsepower or knowledge thing is not true, hell neither of those are issues, its still a fairly relaxed ride, I am not sure how other groups do it, but the leader, TEC and route including regroup points are the only organised things about the ride. At the end of the day it still just a social event, its not like we have set seating positions at the table etc, turn up and ride, the only person you don't pass is the leader, that way everyone gets to the right place.

I cant comment on that as I am unaware of the details, Dave tends to set a reasonable pace, trust Lemans to follow two crazy girls though :Pokey:

Agreed,
however such rules like staying between to given riders would not have helped the serious acco on the last ride I atended, shit can and will go down in the mid pack too, perhaps saying "anyone that rides on ahead will no longer be considered as riding withen the event" thus any issues they may have up the road the ride organiser can not be held responsable to... just an idea.

Dangerous - I don't know what you've been told, but I already said what happened on Weds, as has Rik and others. It had nothing to do with anyone getting bored behind Dave. yeah I know.. sorry I was more refering to future rides, were riders might shoot of ahead.

You are so wrong here mate.

I did not get told off at all and not sure where you get the idea that I did.

I just got a PM asking what happened and that's all.

And I think it was the right thing to do to find out what happened and why we left early and did not wait for the rest of the group.

Simple really, a group of riders that I/we thought were the tail end group pulled up and stopped and looked like they were waiting for us to leave, so we did.
Well that is what I though was happening.

We were wrong as there was still another group of riders to come.

Shit happens in big group rides and that is why you have a TEC that knows where to go and to make sure that if this does happen the last group still gets to where they should and know one gets lost or left behind.

If anyone on a ride thinks that they may not know where to go and has lost sight of the rider in front just stop before a turn off.
And wait for the rear guard to catch up and finish the ride with them.

What happened is the TEC worked and every one got to where they wanted to do.
No problem as far as I'm concerned.

I wanted to pull away from the group twice, so I over took and waved to let them know I was OK and was leaving the group.

It's not rocket science.

I can not see why two of you are trying to blow this up bigger than it is.
Or was it a wet day and you are on the troll?

You seem to be concerned about a ride that you do not like or do.

But there are more than a few that do like the way it is being run, right or wrong.
I did not like the way it was and stopped going because I could see crashers happening and they did.

Now that I have done one lately, I do, so will turn up to a few more and help learners out the best I can.

MMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!! Interesting few pages!! Please pick your toys up and put them back in your cots.

During my time riding with the group there have been two serious accidents. I think the current structure we have in the "main" group allows us the freedom to enjoy the ride with the minimum of "rules". Has there been any accidents since early December??????

The two group structure seems to work rather well. With the "faster" group headed to Duvauchelles and us others going to a number different destinations.

Stop stirring. Enjoy the riding.

Now to the really serious stuff where are we going this week???

Duvauchelles via Dyers (Duvauchelles Pub)

you know the drill, over one hill, back over another, then some flat bitties, then over another hill.

Good spots for regrouping:
1. On Gebbies Pass on the corner next to the Wheatsheaf (B on Google Maps)
2. Little River (C on Google Maps)

Google Maps (http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=347+Moorhouse+Ave,+Christchurch,+Canterbury+ 8011+(Burger+King)&daddr=Gebbies+Pass+Rd+to:Little+River+to:Duvauchel le,+Canterbury&hl=en&geocode=%3BFQ-nZf0do5VKCg%3B%3B&mra=ls&sll=-43.663525,172.691002&sspn=0.092018,0.154495&ie=UTF8&z=11)

nah the headlight is smashed, the fairing is basically shattered, the other side is all scuffed up now, the clutch lever end snapped off, the whole front fairing bracket is pushed down and so is the instrument panel, mud guard is cracked.

other than that the engine is sweet and the forks felt fine (it happened 200m from home so i rode it home)

Did you call the cops? Report it if you didn't as a non injury accident just to cover yourself, I have been caught out by a bloke who was a bit drunk hit me while I was parked, at the time I listened to him saying please dont report it I will pay etc, about a week later I got a bill from his insurance for a repaint of the whole side of his car and other strange damage, found out he had reported it to the cops next day as if I was in the wrong I ended up without a leg to stand on :(, never did work out how some of the other damage was caused to his car.
