What a fucking waste of time... Rubber mallet, two tyre levers, bead break method and water with a drop of soap. 5 mins work.
What a lot of needless stuffing around he did.
Even mounting a tyre only NEEDS tyre levers.
Get the tools.

If it ain't smokin' - it's broken.

I am in need of some stuff and things, hopefuuly just the kind of things people have kickn' around in the bits box. (I thought i had them in a box somewhere, thought wrong).

One rear axle adjuster for fxr150/rg150
One fuel tank lid/cap for rg150 (probably same as fxr?)
The above two items are of more importance.

One front brake systen
One rocker cover bolt for xr100
The other two are slightly more trivial /less important

Willing to trade beer or even some of that other money stuff that i use to buy beer

You can make them yourself. Just buy the bits from your local bike shop and build them up. If its for a race bike then they don't need to be crimped.

Anyone got an FXR 150 oil cooler with hoses around? Actually just after the fittings to the engine but the whole lot would be ideal.

Or if someone has a sneaky solution for a non standard option that required little to no machining that would also work.

They will all but very few, be poo. They're all 25 years old.

Get the measurements of yours, (you can add 10mm in eye to eye length on them sefely with a VJ21) and mount configuration, and get something modern.

I've got an RF900 shock that has been re gassed and had new oil in it (which is what is likely wrong with yours). Will possibly bolt straight in, but I'm not 'giving' it away.

[QUOTI'eah but lighter springs on a shock set up like a bus would be like treacle and pack down.[/QUOTE]

Strictly speaking, absolutely! But since most shocks are too soft for the track, it will likely be a huge improvement.

The biggest thing to watch for is the curve of the rising rate. I know from experience that there's fuck all in it between the two Linkage set ups.

Long and the short of it. Spring, oil, gas the standard one and the difference will be day and night. Plus, he'll know what he's got.

It will be OK, won't be cornering as fast (lol) at Greymouth, it was predictable at BoB, bounced/skipped a lot, but never really let go.
Had a PM and got a newer one sorted, all good.

It's prolly about right for a single RGV calliper, I just remember most buckets having stupidly oversize master cylinders thinking they got more braking power from it.

More power and easier to modulate with a smaller master cylinder, the lever travel is the only draw back if ya go too small.

That's a bonus of radial masters, you can play around with off set from pivot to plunger. MX bikes are getting nice small radial masters these days.

I don't think that it's about 'thinking more power' it's probably just using what is common for 2 caliper setups on single calipers.

The real problem was a restriction in the exhaust that you wouldn't think would have so much of an influence...

I''m after a new carb for my second MB, It's got a 28mm carb currently but I'm yet to get it running right with it, I think it's a bit too big given the state of tune.

Anyone got a spare 24mm (or so) carb?
I'd prefer one that uses Mikuni hex main jets as I have quite the collection.

Its for the misses so that is probably not a good idea.... Electric start and under 200cc for size and preferably Suzuki just to make it difficult, a shame the TS/TF 125/185s arent electric start, could kept it 2 stroke then

I had one pass through my hands briefly (like about 24hrs) as a complete bike bought on TM by the Bren & shipped to him. Hope new project comes to fruition. Yes, I am looking ahead a bit, it is a follow on from the GP125/RGV250 air cooled cylinder project. If it works out then this one is going to be a KR150 bottom end with an air cooled NSR250 cylinder for the magic 54x54 bore stroke combination instead of the GP's 56x50. So I have started gathering bits together for it, I have a suitable NSR cylinder (thanks Richban) and now looking for a KR150 bottom end (as suggested by Kel).

Well you could make a 100 square. Just plonk one of husas RSA clone barrels on the gp. Should be ready before you turn 30. Assuming you can make time start reversing.

Or if you go air cooled just order a customer version of the GPR aircooled 125. I hear they`ll run no more than $400.;)

A H2O 100x100 is the fall back position for the GP if this air cooled conversion of the RGV and NSR cylinders is a failure. Yes the real problem with running time backwards is that I will quite possibly be to young for a racing licence by the time I get the Beast running properly.......

You start with the tyres. Everything revolves around the tyres. ERM. . .well you know what I mean.

That means you need 17" rims 2.15 or 2.5 at front and 3 or 3.5 at the rear.

There are people with old FXR frames and running gear about. Easy start. If you intend to finish that is. Don't constrain yourself with a shitty basis as a starting point. Lose the CB.

Race slugs for a GT380?

No ... one piston is for my de-stroked water cooled 100 which is a soon to be a re bored 54mm for 110cc plus a couple of spare pistons for any possible cock ups while I get it running competitively and future proofing. No sense in building something that's an orphan with no spares readily available on race day.

315080

Extra large KE175 rotary valve fitted to a Suzuki GP100 engine which was originally de stroked to use the good old 52mm KT100 piston for 100cc. Next move is to re bore it, and at 48x54mm it will be a legal water cooled 110cc engine.

The new rule change that makes a 110cc H2O legal pretty much makes persevering with the old 125cc aircooled pointless.

Anyway I need three usable RS125 pistons with the 15mm pin to make this new direction sustainable.

Erm, how do you tune the inlet timing on those disk valve thingies in a fashion that the turbulence from the trailing edge of the crank web doesn't fuck it all up?

I'd ask in the ESE thread, but that has gone off into fairly land where the bikes burn unicorn shit for the perfect flame characteristics.

The crank has a beveled edge so that the wind sweeping in can go up and over it. The inlet port will be higher on the new, larger KE175 disk so the crank will be less of an obstruction.

Hey Rob what rod are you going to use now 118mm KTM200?
I are having some issues finding enough deck height for my crankcases and 110 is definitely not long enough for me. I need at least 115mm with my superlow gudgeon piston
Then again if your transfer are not as wide you might be able to get it in where I can't.
Even with the small DIA crank I got off you and the large disk the inlet is not near as straight as I envisaged it would be.

I can get little end bearings for the RD400 rod (20mm LE eye) that suits a 16 and 15mm pin but I have not found anything suitable for 14 yet. The best (latest) range of pistons seem to have 15mm pins.

Anyway I would love to re use some of those old RS125 pistons that have the 15mm pin.

Yeah I can see some big advantages. esp when it comes to using the 22mm big end and destroking.
Yet I see for a little engine a few grams on lighter weight parts IE 14mm pins 20mm crankpins adding up to more revs less stress.
If you are going te big stuff route Rotax max pistons might be a worth a look I would say they get changed pretty regular as well.

You're on drugs old boy, the RF900 is the best bike Suzuki ever made. Then the Gixxer thou is a close second.

Anyhoo, I need an XR200 flywheel and cover/stator for my water cooled thingie I got from Yowling. The only fault I can find with how the donk has been made, is the water pump is driven direct off the flywheel. Pretty confident it'll implode at 10,000rpm.

re the water pump Ktm50's do this and rev to over 14000RPM
315825
Note for the frakenmotor you should be aiming for well over 13000rpm.
If you heart is set on moving the pump a few have driven them off the kickstart gears on other motors, I think F5Daves MB100 was originally this set up
The other option is using a cheap 12v pump same as sketchy and Dave and a few others now do.

I would give the XR200 gen system a miss and aim to find a later CB100n or similar as the had a much smaller internal rotor alternator.
Pretty sure a CB200 (I'm pretty sure is the same) will work as well. it would take a little working about re the stator set up wiring but would be a vastly superior system.
Have a look here, note what is also on the site.
315824
Also there is internal rotors CDI only available cheap for the Honda 50.

Erm, have you ever tested that? An electric motor won't spin the other way by simply reversing the feed. AC or DC.

Erm, have you ever tested that? An electric motor won't spin the other way by simply reversing the feed. AC or DC.

Problem solved and all working nicely.

Something that we have found with all the NSRs is each one is a little different in terms of voltage output. Modified the map and away you go.

Really impressed by Scott pipes, seems like they will produce some great midrange punch. Some back to backs to be done with the TYGA options and see what comes out of it.

Works fine on DC that's how most electric window motors work, funny when someone complains their aftermarket electric fan goes the wrong way. Black isn't always negative:laugh:

It depends on the set up, if it is a permanent magnet motor you can easily as I stated just reverse the polatity.
if its an electronically controlled one with a built in circuit board you can't do it that way , I sincerely doubt the 1990's NSR servo is though.

I also note its really easy to reverse a AC motor esp a three phase one.
A single phase just requires the reversing of the start windings (just swapping a couple of wires I did one the other day it took about 2 minutes)
the instruction on how to do so are normally under the starter Cap box.:msn-wink:

I can remember the undebored bit, but not the style there was something about them on KB, it might have been from F5Dave
There were the two Mikuni style versions of the RGV250 carb. I think the early was TMSS and the later was more a crescent slide.
There might be aftermarket rebuild kits for the RGV but as they weren't sold in the USA it might be a long shot.

Don't worry I found this so it is the earlier TMSS

Hmm, back at werk PC. Now ignore the fact the brass tube is full length, I've cut it to half way and slash cut the end like a Keihin. I made some hex ally to replicate the Keihin powerjet recess & robbed a solenoid (which I must replace so I can sell the KX carb, but only $78 from US). Then got a toolmaker to make a press in brass seat like the original.

1st Pic bit hard to see & piece not cleaned up so looks rough. exit to tube is at 9 O'clock above brass (modelled off PWK dimensions) if you squint.

Then welded a small bracket to it & screwed & glued it to the carb. Feeds from original bowl jet. 2nd & 3rd pics show slither to be dremeled, but its like 5mm wide & came up nicely. This is for my Bucket so only one carb. Yet to put it back on but initial tests were positive but didn't get to properly test the solenoid as made an error of assumption with the Ignitech & have since fitted a TPS remotely.

So while Axzle is an idiot, it is possible to bore the carbs. In fact the 32 & 34 have the same body. the 32 is offset bored so its thicker at the top than the bottom. 34 will be equal & my 35 is thinner at the top. (crazy RGV150 uses a 26mm(ish) in same body & about 8mm extra material at the top).

Evenin all,

Looking for a blown engine 100cc and up, preferably 6 speed for the gearbox and clutch.
Also need a water cooled 50cc top end and crank, two of, to make a V twin 100.
I was made the suggestion of Aprilia RS50, which it looks are the same as the TZR50 and a few others, But getting two top ends, cranks and ignitions may be problematic. Still if anyone wants to take part in this mini RGV project, let me know.

Cheers

VJ23 aren't weird, they're cool. Haven't worked on one since, ohh 6 o`clock. (Sorting brakes). They have bridged T port as well as aux ex ports. Its light and goes great once derestricted. 60 rear wheel hp on conservative dyno.

Also had a good play on an mc21 today. Neat little bike. Needs rearsets to get you into the right position.

Sounds to me like the float valve is not either getting fuel or passing fuel into the float bowl.

When I close the choke it will run for about 10 seconds at idol, than will start to rev up and run out of fuel than dies,

Just checked, float valve is working perfect.

Float valve works when you check but could the floats be hanging up in the float bowl jamming the float needle nearly shut when you put the carb back together?

TZ350
7th February 2016, 10:04
Bend the needle valve tang so the floats ride closer to the carb body before closing the fuel flow off. To much and the carb will flood. The floats could also be catching on the side of the bowl. You just have to experiment with it a bit.

I think you are right about the plates, two solutions, (1) take the clutch cover off, pull the clutch in and then gently prise the plates apart. (2) find somewhere you can ride around like a big car park, a quiet back road, or a race track. Get someone to push start you in gear, pull the clutch in and blip the throttle, sooner or later the plates will free up.

Well I fixed it, thought you might be interested to know what it was. There is a jet sitting up a tube going into the carb, I missed this when I stripped the carb so it didn't get cleaned, jet was blocked
